Nationwide Power is hiring for UPS critical power Field Service professionals in the Detroit, Michigan area!

Position Summary: We strive to deliver the best possible customer experience by providing top-notch customer service as we care for critical power equipment needs. This includes servicing and maintaining Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS), Power Distribution Units (PDUs), Bypass Cabinets and Battery systems. Our goal is to make sure our customers are always powered up and ready to go!
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Self-schedule and perform required preventative maintenance services.
- Provide 24/7 on-call emergency services as required.
- Troubleshoot critical power systems down to the root cause and perform repairs with minimum customer downtime or site operation disruption.
- Conform to job related requirements and strive to “do it right the first time”.
- As a Critical Power Professional™, focus on prevention, not assessment.
- Work to the performance standard of Zero Defects (ZD)
- Identify, measure, and eliminate all costly errors / mistakes (price of non-conformance – PONC).
- Create customer success.
- Communicate/ educate customers on basic operation of their equipment.
- Maintain and safeguard company-issued tools and equipment.
- Protect company confidential and proprietary information, manuals, and records.
- Coordinate and manage all on-site subcontractors as necessary.
- Maintain personal vehicle in safe and operational condition and always maintain current insurance with valid driver’s license.
- Contribute to company growth by assisting Sales Department with opportunities for critical power equipment and other value-add products.
- Timely and accurately submit paperwork including Field Service Reports, expense reports, and RMA’s.
- Provide training and mentoring to less experienced employees where necessary.
- Attend product specific training as necessary.
- Perform initial starts-up and commissioning of equipment.
- Perform battery installation, removal, and disposal.
Required Qualifications:
- An Associate’s degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering technology (or a highly related field), and a minimum of 4 years of experience servicing, troubleshooting, installing and maintaining critical power or similar equipment.
- Ability to transfer existing and/or previously learned skills toward learning a technical profession via hands-on training, lecture / classroom training and On-the-Job (OJT) training.
- Clear, concise, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to interact comfortably with all levels of internal and external customers.
- Must have the ability and self-motivation to manage one's own schedule.
- Standard computer skills including MS Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Additional / Preferred Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering Technology or a highly related field, and a minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience servicing, troubleshooting, installing and maintaining critical power equipment.
- Factory training, or the equivalent, in the repair and maintenance of multiple leading UPS brands is preferred.
- Prior critical power Field Service experience.
- Familiarity with electrical/electronic test equipment and fundamentals.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical line diagrams and schematics.
- Working knowledge of OHM's law and electronic theory.
- Ability to evaluate the operating conditions of equipment.

While performing duties of the above jobs, the associate is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, tools or other components; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk, hear and smell. The associate frequently is required to sit and climb or balance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must have ability to regularly lift at least 50 pounds. Valid driver’s license is required.
