Job Summary
Assist Retail Store management by working as a team member and providing customer service in receiving merchandise and/or selling merchandise. Performs all job duties in an efficient, positive, helpful manner. Participates in and promotes AHANM animal safety and wellness. Shares information to enhance the public’s knowledge of animal welfare as well as their knowledge of the AHNM’s mission and programs.
Specific Duties
1. Customer Service is the number one priority of all Retail Store Associates to provide the best customer service possible. You will greet the customer, determine their needs and do everything possible to assist.
2. Cash Wrap Procedures; handle the cash register operating procedures. Follows all cash handling, charge authorizations, and customer holds; and adheres to opening and closing procedures.
3. Product Knowledge; this includes but is not limited to, location of merchandise on the sales floor, quality, labels, contents of items, current in-store sales and promotions, and other in-store services.
4. Stocks sales floor with priced merchandise, placing it in proper location. Rotates stock as management directs.
5. Donation Receiving; receives, qualifies, records and stores donated merchandise. Provides customer with receipt. Loads and unloads merchandise in an efficient and safe manner. Always thanks the customer for their donation.
6. Adheres to all safety procedures and rules.
7. Attends meetings as required.
8. Other duties as assigned.
Job Conditions
This position may require flexible working hours, that may include some evening and weekend hours throughout the year.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Education
Graduation from high school or the equivalent GED certificate. Must be able to communicate effectively both written and orally in the English language.
- Required Skills and Abilities
o Working knowledge of retail store environment.
o Work as a team member.
o Exercise good judgment and decision making skills.
o Ability to maintain effective relationships with associates, volunteer participants, and the public in a friendly and professional manner.
o Must be physically capable of handling 50 pounds routinely.
o Demonstrate and employ safe lifting techniques when handling or moving heavy or large items
