Position Summary:
The Threat Analyst SME is responsible for developing and maintaining cyber indicators to monitor the highly dynamic operating environment. They collect, process, analyze, and disseminate cyber threat and warning assessments. This role requires expertise in analysis as defined by AN-TWA-001 within the National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education (NICE) Cybersecurity Framework. A TS/SCI clearance is required.
Responsibilities include:
Develop and maintain cyber indicators to monitor the operating environment.
Collect, process, analyze, and disseminate cyber threat and warning assessments.
Communicate complex information effectively through verbal, written, and visual means.
Source data accurately for intelligence, assessment, and planning products.
Formulate research questions and data tracking variables for intelligence requirements.
Recommend analytic approaches or solutions for problems with incomplete information.
Collaborate effectively in virtual teams.
Evaluate information for reliability, validity, and relevance.
Analyze and synthesize large quantities of data into high-quality targeting and
intelligence products.
Focus research efforts to meet customer decision-making needs.
Function in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Collaborate with other analysts and experts in a consultative manner.
Identify intelligence gaps.
Mitigate cognitive biases in analysis.
Identify and mitigate deception in reporting and analysis.
Think critically and adopt the perspective of threat actors.
Utilize multiple intelligence sources across all disciplines.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a related field (preferred).
Extensive experience in threat analysis and cybersecurity.
TS/SCI clearance.
Strong understanding of the NICE Cybersecurity Framework (AN-TWA-001).
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Analytical mindset with the ability to evaluate and synthesize complex information.
Ability to work effectively in virtual teams.
Self-motivated and able to work independently.
Strong problem-solving skills and critical thinking ability.
Familiarity with cyber intelligence collection capabilities and repositories.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in a related field.
Relevant certifications such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), or GIAC Certified Incident Handler (GCIH).
Experience with threat intelligence platforms and tools.
Knowledge of cybersecurity laws, regulations, and policies.
