We are seeking a CDL Third party Examiner to join our Ancora Corporate Training Family!!

We offer an extensive benefits package, including 401(k), after 30 days of full-time employment, as well as 2 weeks of paid time off after 90 days!


Job Summary

This position’s primary responsibility will be administering CDL skills tests in accordance with state regulations. The CDL Third Party Examiner is understood to be an agent of the state by virtue of having been certified by the state’s CDL regulatory body. As such, the CDL Third Party Examiner will be compliant to all applicable rules and regulations set forth by the state in order to remain in good standing. When not administering CDL skills tests, the CDL Third Party Examiner will also serve as a CDL instructor for the CDL training program at their local campus. The CDL Third Party Examiner will have proven longevity in the field, excellent communication skills, possess demonstrated physical, intellectual and leadership ability to perform duties over the road, maneuvering range, and in the classroom instruction. The CDL Third Party Examiner works under the guidance and supervision of the Director of Education, Program Director, or their designee.


Key Responsibilities

I. Promotes and Maintains a Positive Testing and/or Learning Environment

• Maintains a thorough knowledge and understanding of all state and school policies, and adheres to and upholds their implementation and enforcement.

• Convenes all test appointments and/or assigned classes in accordance with their start and end times.

• Maintains a safe environment for all students, testing students, faculty, and staff.

• Safeguards materials, records, and equipment.

• Abides by all Federal, state, and accreditation/compliance rules and regulations.

• Serves as a professional role model to students.

• Inspires testing students and student confidence in school, faculty and self

• Maintains professional dress and demeanor

• Maintains appropriate confidentiality when working with students, testing students, records, and administrative staff.

• Maintains an attitude of enthusiasm and willingness to cooperate and collaborate.

• Interacts with students, testing students, and fellow employees in a courteous, professional, and positive manner.

• Treats students and those being tested with fairness, impartiality, and objectivity.

• Provides advance notification re: lateness, absence, and vacation schedules during time of substitute assignment.

II. Fulfills Administrative Responsibilities

• Maintains accurate, confidential records of testing students personal information and test results using the tools and technology as required by the state.

• Maintains accurate, up-to-date records of student progress, performance, and attendance, using the tools and technology provided by the institution, as required by school policy and procedure.

• Maintains appropriate confidentiality when working with students, te4sting students, records, and administrative staff.

• Maintains flexibility in fulfilling the skills testing and instructional needs of the school.

III. Administers CDL Skills Tests

• Sets test appointments with te4sting students via written and/or oral communication.

• Verifies testing students documentation (driver’s license/commercial learner’s permit and medical examiner certificate) via the state’s reporting system.

• Administers the skills test(s) in accordance to state regulations (pre-trip inspection, backing test, road test).

• When tests are completed provide supporting documentation of results to the testing individual in accordance with state regulations.

• If test(s) are not passed, a retest appointment will be scheduled (if desired).

• Facilitate testing fee transactions from external testing students (consumers) in accordance with school methodology.

IV. Delivers Instructional Material

• Train students in all areas of trucking/driving

• Administer written tests on classroom material and evaluate grades

• Conduct pre-trip inspections to tractor trailers

• Instruct air-brake test

• Instruct straight line backing

• Instruct 45 degree alley-docking

• Instruct parallel parking – conventional side / driver side

• Utilizes effective delivery skills (e.g., eye contact, voice intonation, and various questioning techniques).

• Draws on personal experiences to relate the material presented.

Experience Required

Certification Required for Testing:

  • Third-Party Examiner, issued by employment state’s CDL governing body.


Minimum:

  • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL): High School Diploma or GED

  • 3 years of on-the-road experience within the last 5 years

  • Valid CDL-A License

  • Clean MVR and background check, including no DUI/DWI in lifetime

  • Ability to pass our road test, as applicable

  • Must have current DOT medical card

  • As operator of Class A equipment, ability to pass DOT drug tests upon hire and on an ongoing basis


Knowledge and Experience

  • Knowledge of procedures for administering CDL skills tests (pre-trip inspection, backing test, road test).

  • Knowledge of procedures and ability to execute pre-trip inspection, air-brake test and CDL driving essentials (i.e. straight-line backing, 90 degree alley-dock backing, parallel parking -- conventional side/driver side)

  • Ability to instruct shifting patterns (i.e. driving highway, city, night vs. day, in different weather conditions)

  • Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to maintain vehicle equipment.

  • Motivation, dedication, professionalism, integrity, and enthusiasm for teaching.

  • Ability to show sensitivity to the needs and requirements of adult learners.

  • Ability to attend any courses, meetings, etc, as required by the state for Third Party Examiners.

  • Ability to attend new faculty orientation prior to the first term of employment.

  • Ability and desire to embrace the school’s mission.

  • Ability to inspire students to the highest level of achievement in preparation for meeting employer expectations.

  • Commitment to stay current with industry standards and requirements within the field of instruction.

  • Ability to facilitate learning on course content in the field of instruction.

  • Excellent presentation skills and ability to present ideas effectively to individuals or groups in a formal setting

  • Superior verbal and written communication skills.

  • Interpersonal relationship skills necessary for positive interactions with students, alumni, faculty and employers.
