HOURLY RATE:   $18.00 - 30.00 per hour (based on relevant experience)

Summary: Specialized instructors offera specific expertise for a program offering or service.  They may carry certifications and areresponsible for the implementation of adaptive program delivery in specificareas or with specific disability groups. This position will assist as asupervisor for interns specializing in Occupational Therapy (OT) and isrequired to be a nationally registered and Colorado State licensed OccupationalTherapist.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The following duties and responsibilities areillustrative of the primary functions of this position and are not intended tobe all-inclusive.
-During the summer and fall quarter, work a minimum of 8 hours a week.
-Acts as supervisor of Occupational Therapy interns with ARO and complete all required student evaluations and documentation required by the academic program.
-Schedule, communicate and collaborate with full time team members regarding intern onboarding, supervision, coaching, and other related topics.
-Supervise and train program volunteers.
-Uses appropriate coaching and modeling techniques when supporting interns.
-Give and receive constructive criticism and feedback.
-Establish a student manual and expectations for the fieldwork and capstone experience.
-Collaborates with various academic programs to support students.
In this position, there is the potential to create specialized programming.
-Instruct registered participants in specialized ARO/OT based programs. 
-Develop and implement lesson plans for specialized programs.
-Follow all policies and procedures of the City of Fort Collins, Recreation department, and Adaptive Recreation Opportunities programming.
-Participate in required staff training and meetings. 
-Complete administrative tasks and record keeping.
-Represent the City in a positive, professional and healthy manner.

 JOB QUALIFICATIONS: The requirements listed below arerepresentative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform thenecessary functions of this position.
Knowledge,Skills, and Abilities:
-Knowledge and ability to follow Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) standards for fieldwork supervision of OT students as provided by academic program partners.
-Knowledge of physical, cognitive, and socio-emotional needs of individuals with varying disabilities.
-Knowledge of other therapeutic professional fields and how OT interreacts and supports those fields.
-Collaboration with an inter disciplinary team.
-Strong communication skills are necessary. 
-Ability to work with a diverse group of people effectively and diplomatically. 
-Strong customer service skills are required and necessary. 
-Capable of understanding, learning and using adaptations, accommodations and physical assistance techniques required for individuals with disabilities as needed. 
Supervisory Responsibilities: This position is not responsible for thesupervision of employees but is responsible for training and supervisingvolunteers including OT fieldwork and capstone students completing internships.
Education andExperience: 
-A minimum of a bachelor's degree is required in Occupational Therapy (OT).
-Nationally registered Occupational Therapist required.
-Licensed OT in the state of Colorado required.
-Three (3) years' experience working in the professional field of Occupational Therapy is highly preferred.
-Knowledge and ability to follow Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) standards for fieldwork supervision of OT students is desired.
-Preferred experience supervising student interns.
Language Skills:  Ability to read instructionsand communicate with City supervisor and the general public. Ability toeffectively present information and respond to questions from supervisor,groups of clients, parents, customers, and the general public. Knowledgeof American Sign Language and Spanish desirable, but not required
 
Reasoning Ability:  Ability to solve and implementpractical solutions to problems. Ability to interpret a variety ofinstructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or scheduleform. Foresee and initiate proactive measures to insure program quality,customer service and facility integrity.
Certifications,Licenses, and Registrations: 
-Licensed Occupational Therapist in the state of Colorado.
-NBCOT Registration
-CPR and First Aid Certification.
PHYSICALDEMANDS: Work will include the following: 1)regular standing and walking; 2) bending, stooping, pushing, pulling,jumping, twisting, balancing, climbing, kneeling, crouching, and reaching;physical activity required in recreation activities; 3) frequent lifting andcarrying 15 to 50 pounds; 4) hand/eye coordination for operation of acomputer keyboard; 5) foot-eye coordination for the operation of a motorvehicle; 6) vision to read written materials and understand direction; 7)speech and hearing capabilities to maintain communication with citizens andemployees.
WORKENVIRONMENT: Whileperforming the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to bloodborne pathogens and uncontrollable physical behaviors such as kicking orbiting.  The noise level in the workenvironment is usually moderate.
