DURATION: 13 weeks to start asap; potential for extension
LOCATION: Duke Otolaryngology of South Durham, 234 Crooked Creek Parkway, Suite 500, Durham, NC 27713
* contractor will be expected to float between the Speech office and the Auditory office in the same location
The audio and speech technician position will be split equally between Audiology and the Voice Care Center in the Otolaryngology of South Durham clinic. This position entails supporting the audiologists and speech-language pathologists at this center. Mainly clerical, with little to no direct patient interaction.
* Ordering and receiving hearing aids, accessories, and assistive listening devices.
* Hearing device programming and set up.
* Maintenance and ordering of audiology diagnostic and hearing aid supplies
* Coordination of referrals and other medical record documentation.
* Management of waitlists, phone calls, general coordination of patient care
* Completion of general clerical duties including ordering photocopies and stocking supplies
Experience in audiology and/or speech-language pathology, preferred but not required
Strong verbal and written communication
Excellent problem solving and critical thinking ability
Basic PC and data entry skills
Knowledge of medical terminology and telephone etiquette
Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize work, provide oral and written instructions, interact with customers and establish and maintain effective relationships with others
* Education - High school diploma or equivalent required
* 6+ months of clerical/administrative experience in a healthcare setting
* Proficiency with EPIC and appointment scheduling preferred
