Women Against Abuse (WAA), a 501(c)3 nonprofit agency, is Philadelphia’s leading domestic violence advocate and service provider and among the largest domestic violence agencies in the country. The mission of WAA is to provide quality, compassionate and nonjudgmental services in a manner that fosters self-respect and independence in persons experiencing intimate partner violence and to lead the struggle to end domestic violence through advocacy and community education. With over 165 staff, WAA has served an average of 11,500 people a year over the past 5 years through emergency residential services (2 - 100 bed safe havens and 15 transitional housing apartments), legal services, hotline counseling, aftercare community based services, prevention & education, and advocacy.

The Therapist will provide trauma informed clinical intervention to clients who have been affected by domestic violence and related stressors. The Therapist will work with clients to process their experiences of abuse and violence, in order to mitigate the long-term effects of trauma. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to: providing individual and group trauma informed therapy for clients; complete client psychosocial assessments, treatment plans and progress notes in a timely fashion; maintaining and keep the client information and records up to date in the database; facilitating groups regularly, may include assisting the Children’s Services team with delivery of clinically informed interventions to children and youth; participate in weekly multidisciplinary team meetings; and collaborating with Case Management staff and Certified Recovery Specialist in referring clients to outside services when necessary. All responsibilities are implemented according to our mission and values and according to Agency standards.
Qualifications:
1. A Master’s Degree in Social Work. MSW must be in the Clinical Track or meet clinical requirements.
2. PA Licensed Social Worker (LSW) required.
3. At least one year of experience providing therapeutic services to adults.
4. Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
5. Knowledge of and experience with Trauma Informed and/or Sanctuary Model service delivery, preferred.
6. Able to work extended and flex hours when necessary.
7. Experience in a residential setting is strongly preferred.
8. Knowledge regarding behavioral health issues and the impact it has on domestic violence survivors is preferred.
9. Knowledge of the dynamics of trauma is preferred.
10. Knowledge of the dynamics of addiction, co-dependency, recovery and relapse prevention is preferred.
12. Ability to work with clients dealing with mental health, drug & alcohol and domestic violence issues.
13. Proficient computer skills – email/Outlook, Word, etc..
14. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse population is required, and in an urban setting strongly preferred.
15. Strong oral and written communication skills.
16. Ability to work under pressure and handle crisis situations.
17. Must satisfactorily pass criminal (State & FBI) and child abuse clearances. (Expenses paid by WAA)
18. Must attend JARS (50 Hour) Domestic Violence Advocate Training, Post Hire
Post Hire Requirements:
Employment offer and continued employment are contingent upon satisfactory child abuse, criminal and FBI clearances and a pre-employment physical, are required (all related fees will be paid by WAA) Must be able to attend the mandatory upcoming JARS training (Virtual).
All hours of attendance and for homework or make up are with pay
Schedule: Monday-Friday 9a-5p 40 hours a week
Salary: $43,780.00-$47,400.00 depending on experience with full benefits (medical, paid vacation, personal, holiday, & sick time & more.)
