Job description

Project 2231, a family-owned Hospitality and Entertainment company that operates Miss Lucille's Marketplace, Miss Lucille's Cafe, Dock 17, The City Forum, ACME Athletics, and Varsity Pins, is looking for an experienced Assistant General Manager (AGM) to help The City ForumGeneral Manager to ensure that day-to-day business operations run smoothly. The AGM will draw up weekly schedules, order merchandise, and assist the General Manager with training, recruiting, promotions, and planning.The AGM must be able to competently perform duties in the absence of the General Manager.

A top candidate should be experienced in a supervisory role and be able to motivate and positively influence staff, especially during times of low morale. They must have strong leadership and organizational skills and be able to confidently deliver performance feedback, set goals, foster teamwork, clearly communicate business objectives and be firm but also approachable.


Assistant General Manager Requirements:

  • Degree in business administration or similar.
  • Great interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Good observation skills.
  • An ability to deliver constructive criticism.
  • Computer literate and basic Math skills.
  • An ability to identify weaknesses and provide coaching where necessary.
  • Cooperating with the General Manager and assisting with anything from project planning to staff management.
  • Nurturing positive working relationships with staff.



RESPONSIBILITIES

Assistant General Manager Responsibilities:

  • Delegating daily tasks.
  • Addressing any issues in a timely fashion.
  • Supervising staff and controlling merchandise.
  • Ensuring company policies and procedures are followed.
  • Setting a good example for staff.


    TEAM DEVELOPMENT AND TRAINING

    • Recruit and interview applicants for open positions in all departments
    • Evaluate staffing needs and coordinate with Human Resources Manager to fill positions needed
    • Onboard new hires and set up training schedules
    • Manage department supervisors to keep team training packets current and updated.
    • Manage team member files to ensure training packets are complete and documents are current.
    • Coordinate facility-wide training and team-building events 1-2 times a year.
    • Administer team member performance reviews, and provide additional coaching and support when needed.
    • Interview and promote team members for elevated roles such as lead and supervisor
    • Update team member job codes and wage adjustments in the timekeeping system and submit them to Payroll.
    • Maintain current team member audit: add new hires, delete terminated team members, and update availabilities.


    SCHEDULING

    • Anticipate upcoming schedule needs and communicate labor goals with department supervisors and leads
    • Update and assist with managing schedules and assign opening and closing responsibilities to managers, supervisors, and leads
    • Review schedule requests for all regular team members for approval based on schedule needs
    • Determine blackout dates for schedule requests based on business and staffing needs and communicate to the team.
    • Review all departments' team member schedules and post on a bi-weekly basis
    • Create and send out weekly team communication emails with the upcoming schedule attached.
    • Update team schedules as needed to fit the needs of the business
    • Manage schedule hours to ensure labor goals are met each week


    HOSPITALITY

    • Oversee the hospitality managers and their teams: Lounge, Streatery, Parties, and Events.
    • Direct and maintain Hospitality standards of the City Forum
    • Ensure that the hospitality managers and their departments operate in compliance with the Tennessee Department of Health codes
    • Coordinate and execute special events: fundraisers, themed and holiday events
    • Order and maintain supply inventory for the hospitality departments


    OPERATIONS

    • Run MOD shifts: issue refunds, approve discounts, resolve guest complaints, reconcile the conflict between guests or team members, prioritize and address the most immediate operational needs, and delegate tasks to team members as needed.
    • Opening and closing the facility
    • Balance the safe at opening and closing, manage the cash flow during operational hours, and perform cash drops as needed.
    • Cash in and out team members' cash drawers and reconcile the shift
    • Define and implement policies and performance standards of The City Forum
    • Deliver corrective action to team members as needed, document the incident and disciplinary action taken, and submit documentation to Human Resources
    • Terminate team members as needed and submit termination documentation to Human Resources
    • Manage the TCF Gives charitable giving program, review donation requests, and update the donation log each month


    ADMINISTRATION

    • Place all orders needed from Webstaurant for hospitality and operational supplies.
    • Oversee inventory of manager and team member uniforms and order as needed
    • Submit Asana tasks for manager operations: manager schedules, name tag graphics, manager checklist updates, policy and procedures signage, team communication signage
    • Email weekly manager meeting recap to the management team with inputs and outputs each week
    • Update TCF Official calendar: promotions, special hours, special events, lead interviews, performance reviews
    • Personal Yearly Evaluation + Quarterly Coaching Sessions
    • Supervise Yearly Evaluations + Quarterly Coaching Sessions when necessary


    REQUIRED SKILLS

    • Excellent interpersonal, collaboration, and relationship-building skills
    • Ability to work with a diverse group of people with a wide variety of personalities
    • Experience in the hospitality/guest service industry with a developed ability to anticipate the needs of others
    • Advanced communication skills (verbally and written)
    • Experience conducting interviews and onboarding new hires
    • Leadership skills that can motivate and direct team members to complete any task, big or small
    • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks
    • Efficient in using Google Drive and Google Calendar


    EDUCATION

    • Bachelor in Business administration or related field
    • Minimum of 5 years of management experience (hospitality or family entertainment industry preferred)


    Work Schedule

    • Full Time: 45+ Hours
    • Manager Days off: Monday/Tuesday or as scheduled needs
