Job Summary
The Test Technician is responsible for performing all phases of any test plan including fixture planning and fabrication, mechanical assembly, instrumentation installation and data collection setup. The Test Technician performs the required testing and ensures test data is collected accurately and in accordance with the test plan provided by engineering. The Test Technician is accountable for test part inventory, proper documentation and equipment maintenance as directed. This position involves physical labor such as lifting, operating overhead cranes and forklifts, and sometimes assembling large, heavy test parts and fixtures in a team environment.
Qualifications & Competency Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associates or Technical degree preferred.
- Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience in a related field or industry.
- Demonstrated commitment to safe work habits, always wearing required PPE and maintaining a clean work area.
- Experience with industrial machinery and/or instrumentation.
- Demonstrated mechanical and electrical aptitude. Hydraulics experience is a plus.
- Welding skills (gas, MIG, stick) preferred.
- Basic machine shop skills (lathe, mill, drill press, etc.) preferred.
- Crane, forklift, and rigging experience a plus.
- Able to follow verbal and written test procedures with attention to detail and foresight.
- Can-do and Will-do attitude with a demonstrated ability to work both on a team and independently.
- Good verbal and written communication skills to include accurate reporting of data, records of instrumentation used and activity logs.
- Basic familiarity with commonly used software (Microsoft Office, Excel, E-mail, etc.) and ability to learn Somat data collection routines.
- Willingness to perform other duties and tasks as needed and requested by management.
- Available to work a flexible schedule and overtime when needed.
- Must be able to lift, carry, move, and transport objects of up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to reliably commute to the work location; possessing a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is most suitable.
- Must be eligible to work in the U.S. and able to pass drug screening and background checks.
This is a Non-exempt, hourly position.
