WTR Search is seeking aTest Stand Technicianto work with a rapidly growing Wind Gearbox Company. This position is responsible for operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting Test Stands used for testing wind turbine components and systems. This role involves working closely with engineering and technical teams to ensure the accuracy and reliability of test results. The technician will also be involved in the assembly, disassembly, and modification of test equipment.The position is based in Big Spring, TX and comes with relocation assistance for stellar candidates.
Responsibilities
Operate and monitor Test Stands used for testing wind turbine components, such as main shafts, gearboxes, and control systems.
Ensure that test procedures are followed accurately, and that data is collected and recorded properly.
Conduct routine maintenance on Test Stands to ensure proper functionality and prevent breakdowns.
Perform troubleshooting and repairs on equipment malfunctions to minimize downtime.
Work closely with engineering and technical teams to understand testing requirements and provide support during the testing process.
Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams to address any issues or concerns related to Test Stand operations.
Working closely with technicians in the repair, assembly, disassembly, and modification of jobs during Test Stand downtimes.
Train entry-level technicians in mechanical processes and Test Stand operations.
Analyze test data and generate reports for engineering teams, highlighting any deviations or anomalies observed during testing.
Participate in the continuous improvement of testing processes and procedures.
Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
Ensure that all testing activities comply with industry standards and regulations.
Maintain accurate records of test procedures, equipment maintenance, and test results.
Contribute to the development and updating of standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent
Mechanical experience with power transmissions and bearings
Experience operating testing equipment and instrumentation
Electrical experience (fuses, breakers, wiring, motors, 240/480 electrical)
