Job Description Qualifications:
The Boeing Test & Evaluation organization is seeking a Test & Evaluation Engineer (Instrumentation / Ground Operations) at Boeing South Carolina (BSC) located in North Charleston, SC. The BSC Flight Test team is a dynamic, multi-role team of Engineers responsible for 787 recurrent testing in South Carolina who also participate in test projects across the Enterprise.

Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including; Experienced and Senior Test & Evaluation Engineers.
Position Responsibilities:

  • Developing test instrumentation installation drawings and instructions, checkout and calibration procedures and troubleshooting processes
  • Overseeing installation, perform functional checkout and maintain operation of a variety of flight test aircraft instrumentation systems. Test configuration during airplane build and throughout the test program
  • Performing functional checks to ensure the test instrumentation system is ready to support daily test activity
  • Troubleshooting and solving instrumentation and test configuration anomalies or problems
  • Flying onboard test aircraft missions to monitor and maintain operation of all required instrumentation systems
  • Verifying calibrations and configuration of equipment and software formats
  • Perform Cabin Safety duties onboard the test aircraft during the test flights
  • Develop instructions for test configuration of aircraft
  • Developing and documenting standardized processes and procedures to ensure repeatability and productivity

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
  • Experience leading or managing projects and/or teams
  • Experience in flight test, laboratory testing, data analysis, instrumentation, system integration, and/or simulation

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • 5 or more years' related work Experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)

Typical Education/Experience:
Experienced (Level 3)
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work Experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Senior (Level 4)
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work Experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Summary pay range for experienced level: 90,950 - 123,050
Summary pay range for Senior level: 108,800 - 147,200
