Position Summary

Position Responsibilities/Essential Job Functions:
  • Ability to operate small equipment such as lawn mowers and weed trimmers.
  • Ability to paint.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others as well as in a team environment.
  • Assists maintenance crews in the absence of personnel.
  • Perform other duties as assigned (i.e. wash trucks, clean shops, etc.)
  • Some experience in grounds and building maintenance and/or painting.
  • Possession of a valid Virginia driver's license with a satisfactory driving record according to the Service Authority policy.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.

LABORATORY ASSISTANT

Position Responsibilities/Essential Job Functions:
  • Prepares samples for analysis.
  • Conducts laboratory analysis of potable and wastewater samples (i.e., Alkalinity, Conductivity, total hardness, calcium, total suspended solids, and biochemical oxygen demand).
  • Prepares media and reagents for analyses.
  • Calibrates, performs general maintenance and troubleshoots both field equipment and laboratory equipment.
  • Performs data entry and basic keyboarding tasks using Microsoft Suite and LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System).

  • Work environment: Primary work is performed indoors in a standard office setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Work is subject to frequent interruptions. This position may be required to field verify information using a GPS handheld. When working in the field, there is exposure to a variety of weather conditions, traffic and noise.

AUTOMOTIVE ASSISTANT

FIELD SERVICES ASSISTANT

  • Complete a variety of daily service orders utilizing a laptop and at times a meter reading handheld.

Temporary appointment indicates that the employee is scheduled to work up to a maximum of 37.5 hours per work week for less than twelve continuous months; the General Manager may approve a work schedule of 40 hours per work week where the additional work hours serve in the best interest of the Authority. Temporary employees shall not receive benefits. Temporary employees are typically hired to perform special tasks for a short duration of time, to relieve periods of high work activity and for summer and winter appointments.
