TEMPORARY RESEARCH ASSOCIATE - LEAD IDENTIFICATION GROUP, ANTISENSE DRUG DISCOVERY
SUMMARY:
We are seeking a highly motivated and outstanding individual to join the Antisense Lead Identification group as a Temporary Research Associate (initial 6 month contract). The selected candidate will work within a fast-paced, interactive, and innovative research team on antisense oligonucleotide in vitro screening for Lead Identification and development. The successful candidate is expected to be self-motivated and able to work productively in a team environment as well as independently. The applicant should have a strong desire to apply their biological sciences background in an automated high-throughput environment. This position is an onsite laboratory research position which will require the successful candidate to be onsite. RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supporting Drug Discovery research through antisense oligonucleotide (ASO) activity characterization
- Executing Lead Identification screening for ASOs and siRNA compounds
- Maintaining mammalian cell cultures for cell-based assays and transfection
- Applying molecular biology techniques including transfection, RNA processing, and RT-qPCR
- Analyzing complex/large data sets and troubleshooting results
- Assisting Senor Scientists in experiment execution, maintaining instruments, organizing and managing samples and reagents
- Operating and troubleshooting liquid handler automation and robotics for high throughput cell-based assays and RT-qPCR (96-well and 384-well format), which includes use of the Hamilton STAR, Minitrak, and Janus instruments
REQUIREMENTS:
- A Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Biology or a related field with 1-4 years of laboratory experience.
- Hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture (cell lines and/or primary cells).
- Experience with molecular biology techniques such as nucleic acid purification, RT-qPCR and cell-based assays.
- Desire to work in an environment with high throughput automation
- Experience with large sample management and data tracking (xls and structured datasets)
- Strong attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and productively.
- Strong organization, effective time management, and project prioritization skills
- Ability to be successful in an intense work environment
- Ability to be flexible as workload and priorities demand
