Essential Job Duties:The Center for IPM is seeking a field researcher to assist with performing field experiments to test and verify the usefulness of a novel insect trapping design for delimiting surveys. We plan to conduct the mark-release-recapture experiments in orchards in Keaʻau, Hawaii Island.
This work with be coordinated with researchers at the USDA-ARS Daniel K. Inouye U.S. Pacific Basin Agricultural Research Center in Hilo, HI. The selected candidates are expected to be onsite at this location during the field experiment, which is likely to be intermittent and span from February 2022 to May 2023.

Minimum Experience/Education:-High school diploma or equivalent and experience assisting with scientific research and collecting and maintaining data records in the field and/or laboratory.
Department Required Skills:-Must possess a willingness to work outdoors under occasionally strenuous conditions and with insects
-Must be able to lift up to 50/lbs and walk 5 miles a day
-Undergraduate or Master’s degree in Biology, Ecology, Entomology, Agriculture, or related disciplines
-Experience in entomological research, insect rearing, field data collection, data summary (basic statistics), and experimental design
-Previous field or laboratory experience
-Interest in scientific research and agriculture
-Valid Driver’s License
