Form of workThe Applied Science Division at UNM Los Alamos anticipates hiring Temporary Part-Time faculty to teach hybrid and/or face-to-face EMS courses in conjunction with the UNM EMS Academy. This is a continuous recruitment beginning in the Fall 2023 semester. Positions are contingent upon the need of each semester as determined by student enrollment levels and current course offering. Positions may be filled or eliminated each semester up to the deadline for students to drop or add courses. Applicants hired from this requisition will be considered for the next requisition.
Anticipated openings include the following subjects: Basic Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Intermediate Emergency Medical Services (EMS).
UNM-Los Alamos is a two-year branch campus of the University of New Mexico located approximately 90 miles northwest of Albuquerque. UNM-Los Alamos emphasizes teaching excellence and offers academic transfer courses, as well as vocational and technical courses to the citizens of Los Alamos County and northern New Mexico.
The Applied Science/ EMS Department at UNM-Los Alamos is seeking qualified temporary part time faculty members to teach lower division classes in various disciplines as specified above. UNM-LA instructors are responsible for all aspects of any class they are teaching including but not limited to meeting with the class during assigned times, content delivery, assignment development, grading assignments, reporting of grades, and assessment of student learning as outlined by the Department Chair. Adjunct Faculty in the UNM LOS ALAMOS CAMPUS are currently compensated on the basis of their credentials and credit hour course loads, as follows:
Credentials Rate per Credit Hour
Bachelors $771.26
Masters $829.11
PhD $886.95
Minimum Qualifications:
1. UNM Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Academy Approved EMT/EMS Instructor Coordinator
2. Current New Mexico Emergency Medical Technician Certification (AEMT/Paramedic)
3. Current Basic Life Support (CPR) Card
Preferred Qualifications:
1. New Mexico Resident
2. Five years (5) professional EMS Experience;
3. A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities;
4. Experience teaching EMS/EMT classes;
5. Experience with program design/methodology;
6. Basic Life Support (CPR) Instructor;
7. Online teaching experience.
