The University of Miami Hospital has an exciting opportunity for a Telemetry Technician.
The Telemetry Technician (U) provides indirect patient care by monitoring the status of patients on telemetry as ordered by physicians through assessment of ECG strips and arrythmia interpretation. An employee in this position possesses troubleshooting skills to recognize monitoring the problems, identify possible causes, and seek solutions to correct the problem. Identify and responds to potentially life-threatening rhythm changes, initiates codes record rhythms during code, continues EKG monitoring with accurate interpretation of cardiac rhythms and dysrhythmias and interval measurements. Monitors cardiac functions and communicates all findings to the assigned nurse or charge nurse including all changes in heart rhythms.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent
Certification and Licensing:
EKG Certification
Valid American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Experience:
Minimum of 1 years of relevant experience preferred.

- Observes the cardiac rhythms on the monitors on a continuous basis during the shift. Recognizes interference and is able to correct the problem as observed by the nurse.
- Recognizes and immediately reports dysrhythmias to the appropriate staff. Records monitor strips on all patients every 4 hours. Documents PR interval, rate, and rhythm on the recorded strip every 4 hours.
- Assures that all telemetry monitor alarms are on at all times.
- Retrieves rhythms stored in memory upon request.
- Oversees supply inventory and reports malfunctioning equipment.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
