- Provide working knowledge to installation, operational and maintenance support by measuring signal-to-noise, signal-to-noise ratio, signal distortion, jitter, frequency levels, peak-to-average ratio, 300 to 3,000 frequency run, E&M signaling, bit error rate, tip/ring/ground resistance, loop back testing, smart jack testing, modem set up features, CSU testing, measuring and adjustment of decibel levels on circuits and microwave radios.
- Installation, support, and maintenance of Ethernet Gig-Ethernet, T3, T1, STS, VT1, and DS0.
- Field troubleshooting including the use of logical electronic and telecommunications problem solving techniques, visual check of equipment, the use of test equipment, software/hardware configurations, and resolve communication failures on cabling system (including fiber optics), microwave radio systems, licensed and unlicensed radio systems, Ethernet transport, servers, multiplexers, tower structures (including light controllers), AC/DC power systems including batteries.
- Demonstrate of basic networking fundamentals including: OSI model, TCP/IP, and Sub netting.
- Knowledge with or willingness to learn field installation of fiber optic networks, OSP and building environment. Utilize skill sets for Fusion splicing, ODTR and power meter testing.
- Knowledge of basic Network troubleshooting skills including ping, trace route.
- Understanding of microwave radios fundamentals and basic telecommunications technology.
- Knowledge with or willingness to learn termination, splicing, and connecting of Company fiber optic cable and appurtenances, but it will also require learning and troubleshooting all aspects of telecom transport equipment.
- Work in an After Hours ON CALL Rotation in sequence with all other members of the Telecommunications Team.
- Must possess a valid State of Texas driver’s license and a safe driving record as determined by the company.
- Ability to use hand tools, wire wrapping tool, transmission test set, telephone test set, and basic knowledge of testing, cable standards, computer base test equipment, and electronic problem solving techniques.
- Knowledge with or willingness to learn Line Locating of Fiber optic OSP, maintenance for the LMS-Locating Management System.
- Associate Degree in Electrical Technology, Computer Engineering or related discipline from an accredited college or university preferred. In lieu of a degree, will consider a combination of education and related applicable IT experience totaling one (1) year, where each year of applicable work experience = 0.5 year.
- BICSI certification is a plus.
- CISCO CCNA certification preferred.
- 0-2 years experience.
- It is a plus to have work experience that include field operational support Knowledge of field operational support, hands-on implementation and configuration of network devices such as: routers, switches, wireless devices, multiplexers, microwave, radios, wireless devices, and UPS equipment is preferred
