About the Role

As the Teen Program Coordinator at the Wynnewood Buckner Family Hope Center, you shine hope by development and implementing program structure and design for the Teen programs. Provide environment of consistent supervision and guidance for youth ages 13-17. Supervise program staff to ensure compliance with monitoring standards and Buckner's mission, vision, values, policies, and procedures.

What You'll Do

As a member of our team, you will have an impact on our program participants through accomplishment of the following responsibilities:

  • Provide training for students ages 13-17 on various job and life skills including but not limited to career exploration, leadership, communication, marketing, computer/technical skills, character development, goal setting, and educational success.
  • Design, develop and implement a holistic Teen Program which provides challenging enrichment activities in a meaningful and interactive context and provides opportunities for youth development. Include all aspects of the curriculum to be used for the program including but not limited to program structure, community partnerships, overall goals, daily projects, workshops and guest speakers, evaluation tools, and marketing needs.
  • Provide environment that stimulates self-confidence, personal expression, culturally sensitivity, trust and a respect for others. Remain attentive to the physical, emotional, spiritual and academic growth of youth participating in program.
  • Guide learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and establish clear objectives for all lessons, units and projects to communicate objectives to students.
  • Organize, schedule and implement program of study adapted to meet the individual needs, interests and abilities of the student population. Utilize current and relevant subject matter, including curricula used by other community programs and organizations adapted to students identified needs.
  • Ensure classroom environment is conducive to learning and appropriate to maturity and interest level of the students. Monitor student learning and pace instruction accordingly. Ensure expectations and standards are explained and understood by students and parents.
  • Provide ongoing evaluation for student progress through daily supervision, assignments and pre-and post-testing. Provide progress reports as required.
  • Develop and implement systems for family involvement and engagement in the program. Conduct regular parent meetings.
  • Assist in developing and implementing policies and rules governing student performance and conduct in the classroom.
  • Encourage students to maintain appropriate standards of classroom behavior and apply those standards in a fair and consistent manner.
  • Coordinate programming with other staff members as needed to assist students to meet learning objectives. Allow access to a variety of FHC resources and facilities to provide experience in reception area, resale shop, computer lab, etc.

What You'll Bring to the Team

To be successful in this role and a great addition to our team we need you to come with the following:

  • High School Diploma (or G.E.D.) required.
  • Minimum of 2 years prior related experience working with children and families
  • Prior related program and staff management experience required.
  • Requires ability to effectively manage personnel; requires administrative skills to include but not limited to staff selection, development, motivation, scheduling, and evaluation.
  • Requires ability to develop, implement and deliver curriculum-based training.
  • Requires knowledge of and ability to implement consistent classroom management techniques.
  • Working knowledge of budgetary management and development of policies and procedures required.
  • Requires willingness to take CPR, First Aid and specialized activity training.
  • Requires the ability to demonstrate cultural understanding; ability to develop positive and trusting inter-cultural and interdenominational relationships based upon previous cross-cultural experience.
  • Requires proficient working knowledge and understanding of the applicable regulatory standards and requirements governing programs and services.
  • Requires excellent public speaking skills and the ability to successfully communicate in a professional manner with a diverse population base in the community; ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
  • Requires ability to relate effectively and sensitively with clients of diverse populations of varying race, culture and background; requires ability to analyze and assess the needs of others; requires ability to work effectively with individuals and families in crisis situations including child abuse and neglect.
  • Requires ability to complete assignments with minimal supervision and to plan and coordinate tasks; self-starter and high level of initiative; most tasks are governed by standard practices; however, some are not; innovative thinking is required; detail oriented, with good organizational skills.
  • Requires leadership ability characterized by servant leadership, integrity and honesty. Must possess the ability to lead through influence as opposed to authority.
  • Requires ability to motivate people; ability to exercise patience and appropriate professional judgment.
  • Requires ability to establish a routine; maintain flexibility while working under pressure.
  • Requires ability to recognize confidential matters and maintain confidentiality.
  • Requires ability to observe and make accurate assessments of situations and individuals and determine appropriate action required.
  • Requires ability to speak clearly and make self clearly understood in face to face interactions; to articulate with accuracy to speak on the phone
  • Requires ability to relate positively, influentially, and sensitively to a broad spectrum of persons in a variety of multi-tiered relationships and settings; requires ability to work effectively with individuals in a multi-ethnic population.
  • Proficient working knowledge and ability to accurately and timely operate and perform computer related tasks with specific equipment and software applications required.
  • Requires professional commitment to Christian principles and teachings so as to perform tasks and responsibilities in alignment with Buckner's mission, vision, and values.
  • Requires ability to drive assigned vehicle(s) or personal vehicle, with appropriate state license, following all laws applicable; must provide proof of liability insurance and must be eligible to be insured under Buckner's insurance policy. Must be age 21 or older to drive on behalf of Buckner.
