Position Summary:
The Counselor will utilize leadership, advocacy, and collaboration to promote student success, provide preventive services, and respond to identified student needs by implementing a comprehensive school counseling program. This program will address academic, career, and personal/social development for all students enrolled in the TEEN Program. This is a full-time position for the Summer Program.

Position Responsibilities:

1. Counseling Services:

• Develop and implement a counseling program under the direction of the Program Director.
• Communicate counseling services to students, families, and education stakeholders.
• Utilize program data to develop comprehensive programs to meet student needs.
• Implement developmentally appropriate group activities and workshops on life readiness and family-related subjects.

2. Individual Student Planning:

• Assist students with developing academic, career, and personal/social skills, goals, and plans.
• Collaborate with parents/guardians and educators to assist students with educational, career, and life planning.

3. Preventive and Responsive Services:

• Provide individual and group counseling to students with identified concerns and needs.
• Consult and collaborate effectively with parents/guardians, teachers, and other resources.
• Implement an effective referral and follow-up process as needed.

4. Community Development:

• Provide outreach and develop partnerships with related agencies/organizations.
• Participate in designated meetings, special events, and recruitment activities.
• Develop a network of relationships with community resources to enhance program opportunities and exposure.

5. Perform other related tasks as assigned.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

• Must fulfill NY State and federal program requirements.
• Minimum of 2-3 years of counseling experience with at-risk students and families.
• Experience developing and leading life readiness workshops.
• Knowledge of adolescent development and psychology.
• Experience in individual and group counseling.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Flexible schedule, including occasional weekends and evenings.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

• Credentialed Prevention Professional/Prevention Specialist (CPP/CPS) certification preferred.
• Relevant coursework/training towards certification.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
