Role Description
This is a full-time hybrid role for a Technology Instructor and community organizer located in Tacoma, WA for our program, which will operate over the next two years. The Technology Instructor will be responsible for developing curriculum, designing and delivering instructional materials, creating and delivering training programs, providing education and support for BBR researchers on technology tools and software, as well as community outreach and organizing.

Your days are dynamic and deeply rooted in community engagement and empowerment. Every day will be different, but the following is a list of tasks and responsibilities describing what your work could look like:
Organizer:
- Use your local knowledge to connect with and build relationships across Tacoma, especially focusing on BIPOC and diverse communities.
- Call, email, or use social media as needed to communicate with local community anchor organizations and collaborators to coordinate shared outreach activities, operations, and logistics.
- Engage with potential students at local events, educational institutions, and community centers, with a focus on recruiting individuals passionate about making a difference in their community.
- Discover, propose, and plan for potential opportunities to expand and deepen community engagement and relationship building with the rest of the team each week.
Instructor:
- Assist with curriculum development, where your experience in technology training and instructional design comes to the forefront.
- Use your creativity and experience to tailor educational materials for a diverse range of learners from youth to older adults of many backgrounds, ensuring content is accessible, engaging, and impactful.
- Collaborate with fellow educators and subject matter experts to continuously improve and update the training program, keeping it relevant and effective.
- Visit field sites for hands-on practical networking work as needed, to prepare for field training and hands-on mentorship of students.
- Help write onboarding standard operating procedures and training materials for interns
- In-person classroom instruction will include the core subjects of technology, internet infrastructure, research, fund development, and community organizing.
Fusion:
- Utilize your skills in popular and community education to create an interactive learning environment that resonates with both youth and adult learners.
- Foster a space of mutual aid and support, encouraging students to apply their new skills in real-world community projects.
- Nurture our community by staying in touch over digital communications media with program students, community members, and team members throughout the workday to provide support, resources, and facilitate connections between people.
- Remain engaged with the latest methodologies and best practices in community education and technology to keep the curriculum fresh and relevant.
- Participate in team meetings and collaborative sessions, contributing to the overall vision and strategy of the program.
- Build and maintain relationships with community leaders and organizations, enhancing the program's reach and impact.

Qualifications
- Classroom Instruction and Education, minimum four years of practical experience to include:
- Curriculum Development and Instructional Design skills
- Creating and delivering training programs related to technology or computing, such as IT certifications, bootcamps, or other programs
- Experience in Adult Education, particularly in community and continuing education settings
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Deep expertise and experience in community outreach, including with marginalized communities
- Experience working with and advocating for BIPOC communities
- Passion for equity in technology education and a dedication to community-led approaches
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with methods, tools, or software used in research (such as data visualization applications, research databases, qualitative data analysis tools, or others).
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field (such as Education, Instructional Design, or Technology) or six years of experience in an education-related field
- Familiarity with at least two of the following products or platforms: Adtran, Arista, Aruba, Cisco, Fortinet, Meraki, MikroTik, Palo Alto, Ruckus, and Ubiquiti
- Industry-specific relevant certifications — e.g., ISC2 CC, CCSP, Cisco CCNP, Cisco CCIE, Aruba ACMP, etc.
