Tacoma Country & Golf Club is as proud of our past as we are excited about our future. Dating to 1894, Tacoma Country & Golf Club has been occupying this beautiful property on the shores of American Lake for well over a century. TCGC is the oldest established Golf Club West of the Mississippi.
Golf is central to the member experience at Tacoma Country & Golf Club. We feature an 18-hole championship golf course that stretches beyond 6,900-yards from the back tees. Accomplished players will love the test they find on our links, while players of all skill levels will find a playable course that is enjoyable round after round.
Tacoma Country & Golf Club offers a competition sized swimming pool set on the shores of American Lake complete with locker rooms, a Beach House with kitchen and bar, and beach and lake access with a dock and slide. The pool, beach house, and lake operate for members and their guests from Memorial Day to Labor Day and through September, weather, and lifeguard availability, permitting.
Position Summary
This position is responsible for all swim instruction and swim instruction lifeguards including group and private lessons. This includes the planning, scheduling, and implementation of the summer swim program. This position is also responsible for coaching the Hammerheads Swim Team.
Position Core Duties
- Instruct group and private lessons for swimming techniques, swimming strokes, and water safety rules to participants with varying swimming abilities.
- Educate participants on rules of the facility.
- Train and supervise instruction lifeguards and delegate tasks to each.
- Evaluate participants swimming abilities and determine correct swim level.
- Complete necessary planning and paperwork for Swim Lessons prior to season.
- Create an educational, safe, and inviting experience for participants.
- Creates billing list of Swim Lessons (Group and Private) and submits to Accounts Receivable for processing by timeline dates. Swim lessons at culmination of session. Private lessons submitted during payroll period in which they took place.
- Coaches Swim Team: Plan, oversee, and instruct practices/workouts and swim meets
- Organizes all aspects of swim meets including, but not limited to, scheduling individual race participants, recording, posting start times, distributing race ribbons, and coordinating swim meet volunteers.
- Work with the Clubhouse Manager on Food & Beverage needs for swim meets.
- Maintains presence during Swim Team events, maintains Swim Team and event equipment.
- Orders select swim wear for Swim Team
- Performs other tasks assigned by Aquatic Manager
Candidate Qualifications & Requirements
- Working knowledge of aquatics recreation and operation systems
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills, problem analysis and decision-making, planning and organizing, adaptability/flexibility and time management.
- Strong oral communication and interpersonal skills for working with members, employees, program participants, and guests of members.
- Strong written communication and computer skills.
- Ability to demonstrate strong work ethic and customer service skills.
- Minimum of 2 years lifeguard and/or Swim Instructor/Swim Team Coach experience.
- Employment contingent upon passing a criminal background check.
- Current Lifeguarding Certification from the American Red Cross
- Ability to respond to emergency situations.
- Ability to perform duties involving physical labor, such as bending, kneeling, standing, reaching, climbing, stooping, squatting, pushing, and twisting.
- Ability to perform strenuous activity with the physical ability to perform job
- Able to lift 50+ pounds.
Compensation and Benefits
Starting pay is $20.50-22.00
