Steam Turbine Commissioning and Instrumentation technician

Job Description

Role Summary / Purpose:

Attached to the turbine commissioning manager, you perform specialized tests and commissioning work on the turbines; ensure inspection and control in respect of costs, deadlines, internal procedures, quality and safety standards. You functionally supervise a team of test technicians.

Essential Responsibilities:

Perform turbine commissioning and troubleshooting services in power generation sites, mainly at nuclear power plants. Some nuclear turbines may exceed 60m in length and run at 1500 rpm. Periodic tests are required to ensure proper mechanical and hydraulic operation. The mission consists in: Proceeding, by instrumentation, to the tests and adjustments of auxiliaries:

  • Check the safety sequences of the turbines;
  • Check the proper operation of the turbine auxiliaries and its instrumentation;
  • Check the conformity of the test results against the technical specifications;
  • Investigate the origins and causes of failures on the turbines and solve them;
  • Inform and formalize the test reports;
  • Participate in feedback (traceability of interventions) and value documentary heritage (writing ranges and procedures);
  • Meet the requirements of the contract, and obtain customer satisfaction;
  • Preserve in all circumstances the integrity of equipment or facilities;
  • Ensure the implementation of the company's Safety and Quality policy;
  • Ensure RET coordination on the shaft line during mechanical work.

Qualifications / Requirements:

BTS / DUT in Electrical, Electromechanical or Electrotechnical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, IRUP, or equivalent experience;

  • Experience in electrical engineering or mechanics of rotating machinery and instrumentation is a plus.
  • The control of the Office Pack and Windows is imperative.
  • The mastery of French is mandatory.
  • Basic spoken/written operational English is a required.
