POSITION: Technician, Utility (Aerospace)
LOCATION: Jupiter, FL.
STATUS: Contract to Hire, Hourly Non-Exempt
JOB SUMMARY ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe essential functions of the job include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Performs, close-tolerance assembly, grinding, polishing, deburring and in-process inspection on various commercial and military aerospace turbine components or coatings using various tools and equipment by following written procedures and established practices
- Utilizes precision measuring equipment as required
- Assists operators in setting up equipment or fixtures as required
- Operates cleaning process machines such as the ultrasonic or the hot water wash
- Operate other process specific equipment as required
- Operates small cranes and fork-lifts to move equipment, parts, and material
- Interfaces with aerospace engineering regarding recommendations for work instruction and/or router improvements
- Carrying out scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on equipment and tools
- Keeping the working environment and machines in a clean and proper condition
- Follows Environmental Health and Safety regulations while working in a fast-paced environment
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education & Training
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Complete specific on-the-job training towards meeting essential duties and work area performance criteria.
- Must complete EHS assigned regulatory training for work area as described by PSM’s EHS Training Matrix, which includes:
- Initial and annual Hazardous Waste Management training.
Skills/Experience
- 2+ years of experience in a production or maintenance environment
- 2+ years of experience of manufacturing experience with the specific skills in one of the following disciplines preferred: grinding, blending coatings, coatings application, coatings removal (strip line), blasting, heat treat, machining or welding
- 2+ years of experience with interpretation of technical drawings or work instructions preferred
- Basic knowledge of MS Office programs, SAP, and time keeping applications
- Must be a detailed oriented
Physical Requirements
- Stooping/Crouching. Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.
- Kneeling. Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.
- Crawling. Moving about on hands and knees or hands and feet.
- Reaching. Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
- Standing. Particularly for sustained periods of time
- Walking. Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work area to another.
- Pushing & Pulling
- Lifting up to 50 lbs. Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position.
- Grasping. Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
- Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
- The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes.
- The worker is subject to noise. There is may be sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout raise their voice in order to be heard above ambient noise level.
- The worker is subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
- Capable of wearing required PPEs for specific tasks performed, such as safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, safety shoes, etc.
