About the role
The Residential Business Unit is looking for a Test Lab Technician to join their engineering team. This position is in the Melville office.
The Test Lab Technician will provide support for product development by testing, troubleshooting and reporting on new and existing products.
Responsibilities
- Perform environmental tests on electronic and electromechanical devices in accordance with UL, CSA, IEC and governmental standards Interpret test results, perform data analysis and create written reports
- Assist in the selection and procurement of supplies
- Assist in the construction of specialized test fixtures and equipment
- Provide interpretation of standards
- Test, maintain and evaluate equipment performance
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Associate's Degree, preferrably in Applied Science or Engineering, or equivalent experience
- Prior experience in a Test Lab environment; school labs may be sufficient
Skills & Abilities
- Working knowledge of instrumentation & wiring systems
- Familiarity with UL, CSA, IEC and government standards and test procedures
- Knowledge of general machine shop work
- General knowledge of household and industrial electrical devices and wiring in accordance with the National Electric Code
- Familiarity with some of the following tests and equipment (school work experience acceptable): Digital Multi Meter, Volt, Amp, Watt Meters, Oscilloscope, Temperature/Humidity Cabinet, and Thermocouples and temperature testing
- Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite applications
Travel
- Minimal travel typically less than 2%
