What you will do:
- Primary responsibilities of a Process Operator are to monitor, to operate, to inspect, to start-up and to shut-down the production process as necessary. This includes troubleshooting equipment and the process to maintain production. The technician will complete necessary paperwork on the operating unit as required
- Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of unit operations
- Must certify in the operating unit assigned
- Follow standard operating procedures, product quality standards, Company policy and applicable governmental regulations relating to the protection of the environment, the safety and health of employees, visitors, and the community
- Assist in ensuring the Operational Units are optimized at all time (steam efficiency, max rates, conversion, etc...)
- Prepare equipment and machinery for maintenance, completing work request and permits to ensure safety of all personnel
- Communicate key activities completed during shift clearly via electronic logs
- Complete training/certifications to progress to top level as required
- Communicate clearly to Maintenance after initial troubleshooting via electronic work requests
- Participate in Operational Driven Reliability program
- Certify and participate in Emergency Response Team as required
- Conducts SPEAR observations
- Attend regularly scheduled safety and environmental meeting
- Take samples from the process and support systems as required, interpret results, and takes corrective action as that the operating unit is pretreated in a cost-effectively manner with maximum production and with-in governmental limits and process constraints while optimizing the production to meet manufacturing goals
- Must wear personal protective equipment while working with hazardous materials and or hazardous waste
- Assist in obtaining daily objectives towards business targets and all other key inputs into shift targets are prioritized and communicated to all shift teams, progress, reviewed and appropriate action to take
- Ensure shift recaps and shift handovers are performed effectively
- Coordinate with other unit operators, maintenance personnel, vendors, supervision, contractors in a teamwork fashion, e. emergency response team, SPEAR committee, HAZOP team, etc...
- Involved in solving unit problems and process / equipment troubleshooting
- May assist in updating manuals for the following: SOPs, SOCLs, Training Plans, etc...
What you will bring:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Advanced degree preferred (i.e. 2-year technical program or college degree)
- At least five (5) years' experience in plant manufacturing operations or similar industrial setting preferred
- Distributive Control System (Board Operator) experience is preferred
- Ammonia/Nitric Acid/Urea operations experience preferred
- Must possess a valid driver's license
- Ability to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Credential) as issued by TSA (Transportation Security Administration)
- Ability to complete certification in Hazmat
- Possess strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to read, understand and apply operating procedures
- Ability to use computers for job functions and training
- Ability to excel in a team environment
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Must be willing to work in protected areas at heights
- Must be able to reach, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl
- Must be able to hear and smell for deficiencies or hazards
- Must be able to pass a respiratory fit test
- Must be able to work in all weather
- Must be willing to work all shifts, overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed and required
- Must be able to work over water (dock)
- Must be committed to working in a highly safety-conscious environment
