POSITION OVERVIEW:
Works with RN, to indirectly care for patients in the Hospital from admission to discharge. Under the direct supervision of the registered/licensed nurse, Works with RN and C.N.A. to assist with patients in the Hospital from admission to discharge. Responsible for ongoing surveillance of patient cardiac monitors and provides RNs and/or clinicians with immediate notification of any changes in cardiac rhythms.
EDUCATION:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Successful completion of the basic dysrhythmia test with a minimum of 90% accuracy, identifying all lethal rhythms with 100% accuracy.
- Basic cardiac rhythm and computer course, preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum one year experience in acute care setting, preferred.
- Previous Monitor Tech experience greater than one year, preferred.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION
- MT CNA, preferred.
- ACLS certification, preferred.
- PALS certification, preferred.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Medical Terminology
- Basic anatomy/physiology of the heart, and basic cardiac rhythms.
- Clear and concise communication skills.
- Keyboarding Skills.
- Basic office skills.
- Basic patient care.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, clinicians, and other health team professionals.
- Ability to accept responsibility for accuracy and response times to emergence and non-emergent requests.
