Technician III- The Johnson Lab inthe Division of Nutritional Sciences
Who we are:
The Johnson Lab inthe Division of Nutritional Sciences is seeking a full-time research technician to manage general lab activities, perform mouse husbandry, organize human subjects research, and independently execute molecular biology-based techniques. The Johnson lab studies metabolite-dependent diet-microbiome-host interactions using techniques in genomics, metabolomics, molecular biology, and microbial genetics. The lab has a focus on understanding the importance of metabolite exchange in the establishment of the infant microbiome.
What you will do:
Under general supervision, the candidate's laboratory responsibilities will include assisting with germ-free mouse work, performing tissue collection, preparation of microbiome samples for genomic and metabolomic analysis, upkeep lab reagent stocks, and safety management tasks. Administrative duties will include procurement of lab supplies, general lab organization, and the upkeep of freezers and freezer organization. This is a renewable one-year appointment depending upon satisfactory job performance and funding availability.

What we are looking for:
Our ideal candidate will have formal training beyond a High School Diploma. Associate's degree in a biology-related field, plus a minimum of six months of experience. Willing to work with and handle mice. Self-motivated and able to work in a collaborative team setting. Detail-oriented and thorough in completing and communicating the results of work tasks.
The ideal candidate for this position would be self-motivated, willing to work as a part of a team, and able to engage in multiple projects. There will be continuous learning opportunities, intellectual engagement, and exposure to multiple cutting-edge techniques. The candidate will be expected to work independently after adequate training by the PI and research team.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science. Background knowledge in Biology and/or Biochemistry. Experience in common computing software platforms (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
