Job Summary
BMET II
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Biomedical Equipment Technician II works under minimal supervision and assures that all clinical equipment technologies in assigned areas are operating safely and accurately. The Biomedical Equipment Technician III provides expert-level experience in the repair, calibration and maintenance of a wide variety of clinical equipment, instrumentation and support systems used in healthcare delivery. Execute professional-level inventory assessment/audits, corrective and planned maintenance of clinical equipment. Provide remedial corrective maintenance and maintain documentation of all service events, tests and maintenance performed on clinical equipment. Mentor, educate, provide oversight, and assist management with lower-level technicians. Provide support, both on-site and remotely to a hospital, service center location, or within an assigned territory.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The essential functions of the job include but are not limited to the following:
Customer Relations
Respond expeditiously to calls from clinical departments to evaluate and rectify valid operator complaints and concerns.
Provide in-service educational programs on use of equipment.
Individual will maintain good personal relationships with fellow workers, nursing and medical staff, vendors, manufacturers and the general public.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Associates degree in biomedical equipment technology, electronic equipment technology, or military training preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted. Certification(s) preferred i.e. CBET, A+, etc.
Experience: Minimum of seven (7) years or equivalent servicing a broad representation of clinical/patient care equipment in a hospital environment. Preferably have a specialization in one or more high-acuity modalities e.g., ventilators, anesthesia units, dialysis, lasers, sterilizers, laboratory, surgery.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to walk, stand or sit for prolonged periods.
Vision and hearing correctable to within normal range to communicate with customers and perform repair work.
Position requires bending, stooping, reaching up and lifting up to 50lbs.
