Technician Assistant
North Port Animal Hospital is a multi-doctor located in North Port, FL. Our hospital is seeking a Technician Assistant to join our team to help keep our hospital clean for our clients, patients, and staff. This is not a pet care position, but you should be comfortable around dogs and cats. At North Port Animal Hospital, you will be responsible for providing direct support to the entire veterinary team and the care of its patients. Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Keeping hospital clean and odor free
- Continuously cycling hospital laundry; cleaning, folding, and distributing in patient care areas throughout the hospital
- Clean public and employee bathrooms, restock paper products
- Cleaning up pet waste/accidents
- Daily maintenance of floors (sweep, vacuum, mop),
- Cleaning and disinfecting surface areas (chairs, counters, doorknobs, railings, etc.)
- Outdoor upkeep includes: sweeping sidewalks, pet waste removal; occasional snow removal from client walk areas
- Learn proper patient restraint
- Maintain cleanliness of the hospital and kennel areas
- Walking animals that may need support or assistance
- Knowledge of basic husbandry, feeding, and nutrition
- Administering medication to patients as directed by veterinarian
- Restock and organize supplies
- Proper animal handling and restraint
- Laundry
- Strive to advance your knowledgebase and skill set
- Learn proper procedure for answering calls
- Help the technicians with vaccines
Skill and Qualifications:
- Ability to speak and read English
- Reliable transportation
- Comfortable working around dogs and cats
- Professional, pleasant, engaged, clear communicator who is attentive and respectful to clients, and co-workers.
- Must possess excellent communication skills and the ability to problem solve and handle multiple tasks
- Must have the ability to adjust to changes in the environment and able to handle stress in a calm manner
- Must be a team player, have patience and maintain a positive attitude.
- Must be attentive to detail as required by a high level of quality medicine.
- Must be able to lift and restrain pets of at least 40 pounds, and work on feet most of the day.
