The Pet Cancer Foundation’s vision is to increase the life expectancy and improve the quality of life of pets diagnosed with cancer. Estimates suggest that 12M dogs and cats are developing cancer every year, roughly 6x the number of humans getting cancer yearly within North America.
We need to do more for our furry friends. To achieve this mission, we're building a large team of distributed, animal-loving passionate volunteers to help them and their families. Our Website Editorial team requires an experienced Technical WritingTeam Leader to help create and maintain our SOPs, guidelines and training manuals. That's where and how you can help us!
The Position:
The Technical WritingTeam Leader is responsible for the development, writing, and review of standard operating procedures, guidelines, and training materials supporting our scientific writing, editing, and all associated roles. The Team Leader's primary responsibilities include managing a core team of Technical Writing and editing professionals to create and/or update/maintain the documentation specific to this department's needs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead, coach, delegate assignments to a team of technical writers and editors to develop the documentation required to create high-quality veterinary (pet health) content for the public.
- Be an active contributor(writer and/or editor) to the development of SOPs, guidelines and training materials intended to exhaustively detail our team’s efforts to create original veterinary (pet health) content for the PCF website .
- Research topics (as needed) to ensure content development efforts across all project teams are included and comprehensive.
- Familiarizes self and team on each role within the department as well as all applicable project team, completing diligence and knowledge gathering as required.
- Collaborates with key stakeholders to ensure the effort is wide-ranging & developed in a standardized manner across all teams and content types.
- Completes high-quality documents in terms of organization, clarity, accuracy, format, and consistency.
- Communicates constructively with peers and leadership to suggest improvements and raise quality levels throughout our efforts.
- Ensures the SOPs, guidelines and training materials created ensure the scientific validity and quality of our content is of the highest regard.
About You

Above all, you possess an unwavering passion for educating readers through concise, well-structured, and engaging technical guides. You have:
- Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Technical Writing, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of Technical Writing experience or relevant documentation development.
- A portfolio that showcases a variety of technical documentation, including manuals, user guides, and online help pages.
- Ability to manage, lead, and delegate assignments to team members to gather and interpret information.
- Rigorous attention to detail, ensuring the clarity, accuracy, and comprehensiveness of documentation.
- Willingness to adapt to evolving processes, ensuring that documentation remains current.

- Expectations regarding a time commitment are in the range 6-8 hours per week, daily or semi-daily (4-5x per week) connectivity to engage with your team is required.
