Job description

Overview:
CVP is seeking a Technical Writer to make a positive impact on the public health mission of our customers. The professional in this role will support high-quality program deliverables and ensure that messages are communicated well. The Technical Writer/Editor will work as part of an integrated project team on a 5-year contract to provide research, evaluation, technical assistance, and IT services in support of the critical and complex mission areas of our customers.

Responsibilities:
  • Partner with different task areas teams across individual and complementary programs to determine communication needs to estimate technical writing and editorial support needed to assure high-quality deliverables.
  • Maintain responsibility for tech writing tasks – plan work, perform reviews, ensure technical writing assignments are completed on time, and perform continuous improvements.
  • Create or maintain training materials – establish formats, mockups, prototypes, and present training materials to support internal team and client stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with other team areas to ensure quality processes are integrated and quality dates are met.
  • Write and/or edit technical and training documents for a diverse set of stakeholders ranging from federal government stakeholders to contractors and grantees - including but not limited to; Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), business proposals, reports, user manuals, briefings, presentations, functional descriptions, system specifications, guidelines, and special reports.
  • Develop outlines and drafts for review and approval by technical specialists and project management, ensuring that final documents meet applicable contract requirements and regulations.
  • Research and gather technical and training background information for inclusion in project documentation and deliverables.
  • Consult relevant information sources, including research resources, technical and financial contractual documents, and client and project personnel, to obtain background information, and verify pertinent guidelines and regulations governing project deliverables.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • 5 years of previous experience in a Technical Writing or Training role.
  • Strong experience with tools such as Captivate, Snagit, PowerPoint, and other tools that support writing and training materials.
  • Professional writing sample to share during the interview process.
  • Expert in MS Word.
  • Exceptional writing skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Clear and concise verbal communication.
  • Ability to listen and capture information in a fast-paced environment.
  • High degree of initiative, a self-starter.
  • Desired experience working in a biomedical or public health agency
