SUMMARY
The Army’s Program Executive Office for Aviation Office of the Chief Information Officer (PEO AVN OCIO) is charged with providing IT services and capabilities for the PEO AVN organization.

Agile Defense is seeking a qualified Technical Writer to assist our team in building out high quality user guides and other documentation for our user base at OCIO. This position creates material for use by our government team members as well as our own contractor staff. An ideal candidate has a keen eye for detail with extensive Microsoft Word and Visio experience, able to take complex technical processes and information and format it into user-friendly documentation for use across a large organization.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Creating and write various types of user documentation, including how-to guides, IT system level documentation, SOPs, work instructions, policies, etc
• Will work hand-in-hand with Document Analyst team and functional team leads
• Supports the operations and engineering teams with generating documentation for system components and engineering artifacts
• Explain scientific and technical ideas in simple language
• Work with customers to translate their functional requirements into detailed technical specifications.
• Writes and edits technical documentation for all the project's hardware and software to include installation, configuration and how-to documentation
• Prepare, review, revise, and maintain technical documents including software and systems engineering, system operations, testing and user documentation.
• Distill complex information into clear, concise text
• Apply writing and grammar skills and delivers accurate documentation with under tight deadlines
• Experience designing and developing developer-oriented documentation and collaborating/working directly with developer teams
• Use documentation tools to develop templates and create output in various mediums
• Knowledge and understanding of but not limited to System Development Lifecycle (SDLC),, general IT Operations, and Risk Management Framework (RMF)
• Demonstrate innovative influence within a project that has impact and participation from multiple stakeholders

QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Background, and Years of Experience

• 3-5 years experience.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
Required Skills

• Excellent customer service skills are a must, along with verbal and written skills.
• Must be able to work in a collaborative team environment.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Environmental Conditions

• Mandatory customer site a minimum of once per week, otherwise remote work is available. General office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require standing and walking for up to 10% of the time. The working environment is generally favorable. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are not hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available.

Strength Demands

• Sedentary – 10 lbs. Maximum lifting, occasional lift/carry of small articles. Some occasional walking or standing may be required.   Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
