Summary
This position is located in the Center for Cancer Training (CCT), Office of the Director (OD), National Cancer Institute (NCI), National Institutes of Health (NIH), Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS).

Duties
  • Serve as a central resource for CCT for technical writing and editing programs, and exercises responsibility for a broad range of technical writing and editing functions.
  • Develop graphics, flyers, and other communication materials and products to be delivered through print, electronic, and social media platforms for training programs, events, products, and initiatives.
  • Analyze and report promotional efforts and social media performance and engagement for NCI's cancer training and career development programs.
  • Create, maintain, and update CCT's webpages on cancer.gov and registration sites on events.cancer.gov.
  • Develop and implement communication plans for various CCT initiatives, such as NanCI by NCI mobile application, Inside Cancer Careers podcast, NCI Rising Scholars Seminar Series, and other similar initiatives.
  • Provide operational support for the production of Inside Cancer Careers podcast, such as identifying speakers, scheduling recordings, managing speaker materials and government clearance, and developing web content.
  • Coordinate cancer training and career development communication and information activities with other offices within and external to the NCI. Maintain effective contacts and liaison with program officials in NCI and in other organizations as authorized.

Qualifications
In order to qualify for a Technical Writer-Editor GS-1083 position at the GS-12 level, you must have:
One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: performing technical writing and editing assignments to communicate scientific or biomedical information on organizational issues and objectives; drafting written materials to communicate technical information on program activities; monitoring social media communications and drafting social media posts; and collaborating with other staff and organizations in carrying out technical writing and editing assignments to support a scientific or biomedical organization or program.
In order to qualify for a Technical Writer-Editor GS-1083 position at the GS-13 level, you must have:
One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: performing technical writing and editing functions to communicate scientific or biomedical information on organizational issues and objectives; developing and finalizing written materials to communicate technical information on scientific or biomedical research activities; managing social media communications and analyzing social media performance; and coordinating collaboration activities with other staff and organizations in carrying out technical writing and editing functions to support a scientific or biomedical organization's communications programs.
You will receive credit for all experience material to the position, including experience gained in religious, civic, welfare, service, and organizational activities, regardless of whether you received pay.
