Unison, a leading provider for procurement and grants solutions to the federal marketplace, is seeking a Junior Technical Writer. This is a fantastic opportunity for a junior writer who is eager to learn and is looking to grow his or her technical writing skills. We provide a supportive, friendly, and collaborative team atmosphere so that you can contribute to the success of our products.
- Research and analyze technical information to gather content for documentation.
- Develop online help, release notes, and occasionally assist with other technical content.
- Collaborate with business analysts, software developers, quality assurance team members, and other stakeholders to ensure accuracy and clarity of information.
- Edit and proofread content for grammar, style, and consistency.
- Also occasionally create additional multimedia content, such as screenshots.
- Learn and follow established Unison style guidelines.
- Highly self-motivated and directed.
- Bachelor's degree in English, technical writing, journalism, communication, or a related field (preferred).
- Excellent understanding of and consistent use of standard American English.
- Strong writing and editing skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to learn new technologies quickly and with light supervision.
- Ability to describe and explain the use of technology in a clear and concise way.
- Good research and analytical skills.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with a strong work ethic.
Desired Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and basic knowledge of content management systems (CMS) a plus.
- Experience with a well-known writer’s style guide, such as but not limited to the AMA Manual of Style, the Chicago Manual of Style, the Microsoft Manual of Style for Technical Publications, or the IBM Style Guide, to name a few
