Job Title: Technical Project Specialist Job Summary:

The Technical Project Specialist role provides regional and global technical support to the organization’s commercial, innovative and product teams. This position will apply strong theoretical and practical knowledge in specialized engineering topics to operational challenges as well as information management solutions.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide engineering solutions toward resolution of particular technical challenges and processes in support of Drew Marine’s value added programs
  • Review Service Engineer vessel reports and maintain informative, concise ship-specific documentation applicable for both technical services and sales
  • Abide by a culture of safety
  • Participate in a culture of accountability, teamwork, transparency, commitment, and passion
  • Utilize and improve on process in support of continuous improvement
  • Respond to “Help Desk” requests from client vessels within Drew Marine’s many areas of expertise
  • Review data from vessel monitoring systems in support of value-added solutions for maintaining and improving equipment performance, safety, and environmental impact while lowering overall operating costs
  • Provide project-based engineer/research support to marketing initiatives within Drew Marine’s broad and expanding sphere of vessel support
  • Provide assistance to other Drew Marine departments as necessary
  • Occasional travel to support special projects, or assist in implementation of systematic solutions
  • Other tasks or projects may be assigned

Required / Desired Knowledge, Experiences and Skills:

  • Relevant Bachelor’s degree with up to 2 years’ experience or 3-5 years of related industry experience in an engineering support capacity
  • Must possess strong theoretical background in engineering/science with the ability to apply knowledge toward innovative solutions
  • Must possess excellent computer applications and data management skills
  • Mechanical, electrical, and fluid troubleshooting experience strongly preferred
  • Must possess excellent communications skills
  • Must possess excellent time management/prioritization skills
  • Experience in an international maritime industry with matrix structure highly preferred

Education/Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Marine, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering or 3-5 years of related industry experience in an engineering support capacity

Physical Working Environment:

The position works primarily in an air conditioned and heated office facility. The position requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time, operate typical office equipment (such as computers and peripherals, telephones, copiers and fax machines). This position requires travel about 5% to various locations, including ports, onboard vessels and other Drew Marine offices. Position may also be exposed to external elements such as weather when onboard vessels and at ports. Must be able to navigate the structures and obstacles commonly found on ocean going cargo and cruise vessels, such as vertical stairs, gangways, and narrow passages.
