Job description

About Carvana

If you like disrupting the norm and are looking to join a company revolutionizing an industry then you will LOVE what Carvana has done for the car buying experience. Buying a car the old fashioned way sucks and we are working hard to make it NOT suck. I mean, have you seen our vending machine?!

We are looking for people who are excited to thrive in an environment of impactful change. Team spirit is evident at Carvana and every day we let our passions and creativity foster innovation. We take big swings, set ambitious goals, and challenge each other to make data- and process-driven decisions in everything we do. Here are a few of our stories! We've been changing the game since 2013, and we're not taking our foot off the gas now. Want more of the story? Check out our background here.

About the team and position

We're looking for entrepreneurial, hard-working go-getters with a high degree of fluid intelligence who are excited about working in a product-driven technology company to help us drive the best customer experience. Ideally, you are fanatical about delighting users, moving huge numbers, and seeing your product vision come to life. You're highly autonomous and capable of taking high-level business problems and quickly developing solutions. And you're passionate about building deep relationships with your stakeholders and making sure their needs are represented to the rest of the business.

This Technical Product Manager role is on the Credit Offers team within Finance. Credit Offers is a platform team that builds and maintains services that are consumed across the entire organization that literally make Carvana's multi-billion dollar per year auto finance business work. Success in this role requires a technical understanding of microservices architecture (Azure/AWS) and a high familiarity with how APIs are used to enable applications. Since this team is in the Finance org, experience with business analytics and an understanding of finance concepts are a plus.

What you'll be doing

You're expected to be the leader of your team, ultimately responsible for the success of projects and the long-term trajectory of your KPIs:

  • Participate end-to-end in the product life cycle: requirements gathering, prioritizing and scoping work, and establishing accurate timelines.
  • Work with Finance and cross-functional team stakeholders to build, prioritize, and execute your product roadmap.
  • Be actively involved in interpreting analytics and customer data to assess the success of product releases and to inform how you iterate on future releases.
  • Incorporate multivariate experiments in your product releases to test your hypotheses of value creation.
  • Collaborate with Carvana's Engineering, Creative, Marketing, and Customer Advocate teams to ensure product releases are articulated broadly with high visibility to customer impact.

What you should have

We're looking for a Product Manager with deep knowledge and experience in more than one of the following areas:

  • Technical undergraduate degree (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, etc.) or equivalent experience.
  • Analytical thinking. Capable of the full scope of data-driven decision-making: diving deep to understand the nuances of individual data points, defining illuminating summary statistics and visualizations, crafting simple yet accurate narratives, and employing all of the foregoing to improve our product and business.
  • Technical experience. Microservices architecture providing applications data to consume and run. API integrations across multiple systems, working with engineers to monitor API usage, performance and analytics to identify and resolve issues. Experience with split-testing design and interpretation.
  • Product Management experience. 2-4 years of experience in software product management with deep product experience at one or more highly successful (and ideally hypergrowth) companies.
  • Product sensibility. A student of products with sharp intuition about customers and user experience. Consumer web/mobile applications and e-commerce experience is a plus.
  • Work ethic. Willingness to roll up your sleeves and get it done, no matter what it is, for the sake of the team and our customers.
  • Excellence in communication and self-reliance. Ability to collaborate and clearly articulate problems and solutions to teams and leadership. Self-motivated and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment and find the answers to your own questions. Also, a sense of humor-we don't take ourselves too seriously and love to have fun.
  • A driven, relentless - but positive! - attitude.

It would be great if you also had

  • Definitive design sensibility (your wireframes don't make people laugh or cry).
  • Knowledge of data science best practices.
  • Agile methodology experience (Kanban, Scrum).
  • Product strategy/road-mapping experience.
  • Automotive industry experience.

What we'll offer in return

  • Full-Time Salary Position with a competitive salary.
  • Medical, Dental, and Vision benefits.
  • 401K with company match.
  • A multitude of perks including student loan payments, discounts on vehicles, benefits for your pets, and much more.
  • A great wellness program to keep you healthy and happy both physically and mentally.
  • Access to opportunities to expand your skill set and share your knowledge with others across the organization.
  • A company culture of promotions from within, with a start-up atmosphere allowing for varied and rapid career development.

Other requirements

To be able to do your job at Carvana, there are some basic requirements we want to share with you.

  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.

Of course, we'll make any reasonable accommodations for those with disabilities to perform the essential functions of their jobs.
