Technical Producer, Contract, Agency EA

Role Summary:

The Technical Producer will facilitate and execute client strategies, creative program development and logistics for virtual and live technical events. Formats include (but not limited to) Live/Remote Video Shoots, Post-Production Supervision, Broadcast Studio Management, General Sessions, Breakouts, Trade Shows, Expos, Live Streams, Live-Capture & Remote-Capture Pre Records, Digital, and Studio/Broadcast-Media events. The Technical Producer must be a proven team builder and leader and serve as a trusted advocate for EA clients by supporting the management of vendor relationships and budgets with integrity. The Technical Producer will serve as an ambassador of the Agency EA brand and core values.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with agency departments from initial event strategy through actualization of projects.
  • Participate in RFP response development.
  • Manage all live, hybrid, virtual event technical logistics and timelines from conception to completion.
  • Create and maintain project timelines/workback schedules, technical staffing plans, and labor plans throughout the lifecycle of projects.
  • Work directly with clients to define all “program” requirements and gather the full scope of all production elements to be included in the Technical Producer’s purview.
  • Lead client and team communication with oversight of all technical project deadlines and deliverables.
  • Assist EA’s spatial department in the development of all floor plans, and full management of all technical drawings as needed.
  • Development and oversight of all Studio/Broadcast prep docs for staff and crew as required - scripts, edit logs, rundowns, sync schedules, content management trackers, etc.
  • Development and oversight of all Live Event prep docs for staff and crew as required - technical run of show, scripts, rehearsal schedules, hospitality & rider fulfillments, shipping/dock schedules and all associated creative elements for complete program development.
  • Provide solid knowledge in AV systems, event technology, video conferencing platforms, virtual software(s), ROS development, and crew/labor management.
  • Lead all areas of the program’s lighting, audio, video, rigging, scenic/fabrication, media/content creation, and IT systems.
  • Manage multiple remote teams and crews for integration with simul-cast programming requirements.
  • Manage all vendor-partner sourcing, independent contractor deals, and external speakers/talent as required for all technical programs.
  • Provide full onsite management of FOH and BOH systems, staff, and logistics.
  • Support with reconciling all program line item expenses against master technical budgets following program execution.
  • Ensure all projects are produced to the highest quality of EA standards and that objectives and deliverables are met.
  • Manage technical budgets with integrity and transparency at all times.
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to junior Producers, Associate Producers, Production Coordinators, and freelance technical contractors.
  • Be able to think fast on your feet to resolve issues that arise in an ever changing, fast paced environment.
  • Demonstrates extraordinary interpersonal skills, especially in situations involving leadership, decision-making and team building.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience.
  • 5-7+ years of leading and executing large-scale technical programs with an emphasis on custom design, labor management, fabrication, trade show, expo, virtual and live stage production for 2,000-5,000+ people.
  • 5+ years of experience managing $500K+ production budgets.
  • Proven track record of leading project teams of 4+ line producers and multiple crew(s).
  • Experience leading and/or collaborating on designs with scenic and spatial designers is a must.
  • Extensive labor management experience in working with union labor, AV crews, and specialized technical freelance line producers.
  • Knowledge of standard industry freelance rates and freelance contract negotiations.
  • Proficiency in working with Fortune 500 level CEOs and Executives, celebrity talent, musicians, artist groups, and keynote/guest speakers.
  • Experience with vMix, Zoom, AutoCAD, Vectorworks, and/or Rhino a plus.
  • Demonstrates advanced knowledge of leading industry trends.
  • Client centric mentality - extensive experience interfacing with clients and vendors.
  • Experience managing RFQs and contractor, vendor and venue contracts including negotiating agreement terms and pricing, multiple bidding protocols, and invoicing.
  • High proficiency in the G-Suite line of products, Excel, Word, PPT, Keynote and ShowFlo.
  • Proficiency in creation, management, and oversight of the program’s full technical production schedules, crew schedules, and talent/executive rehearsal schedules.
  • Superior attention to detail, exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task across multiple projects, work independently and contribute to a team environment.
  • Strong work ethic and desire to succeed.
  • Some travel required.
