The Technical Illustrator will be a key member of the Technical Publications team, working with technical writers, technical editors, product managers, and others to craft and refine our help articles. This team member will be heavily involved in the production and ongoing maintenance of our technical information. This is not a social media or marketing position.
To do this you will build strong working relationships with the cross-functional product development areas of the company. You must have a hands-on approach to the technology and to the products being documented. You will help enhance and expand the current documentation to provide a variety of learning tools for our customers.

Zscaler's salary ranges are benchmarked and are determined by role and level. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations and could be higher or lower based on a multitude of factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
The base salary range listed for this full-time position excludes commission/ bonus/ equity (if applicable) + benefits.
Base Pay Range
$70,000 - $100,000 USD

Responsibilities
- Responsible for every stage of production in creating and maintaining illustrations for end user documentation and videos; keeping all illustration projects running smoothly and on schedule. This is not a social media, broadcast media, advertising, or marketing/sales position. Please be ready to provide illustration samples of tutorial/e-learning/instructional work.
- Translate and distill technical information from multiple sources to create clean, clear, and concise diagrams and illustrations for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ensure that all illustrations are following Zscaler's visual brand standards.
- Assist in defining standards, style, and best practices for the team with regards to visual content.
- Work cross-functionally with SMEs in the Engineering, Product Management, Training, and Product Marketing groups.
Required Skills & Experience
- 4+ years of experience in producing illustrations and other visual media. Customer-facing conceptual and procedural illustrations are preferred.
- Have experience collaborating with technical writers and other team members in the creation of technical diagrams and illustrations.
- Ability to plan, create, and publish/distribute multiple illustrations simultaneously.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Visio and Adobe Illustrator.
- Hands-on experience with Adobe InDesign for formatting and layout.
- Excellent oral, written, and organizational skills.
- Detail orientated, and able to think and produce video content in context with the target audience.
- Self-motivated and effective in a fluid environment.
- Must possess creativity and a sense of humor.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
Desired Skills & Experience
- Experience in developing concept and procedure content. Instructional design experience is a plus.
- Experience in CAD and creating multidimensional images.
- Hands-on experience with JIRA and/or Confluence.
- Experience with Drupal (or equivalent content management software).
- Experience working in an Agile environment.
- Experience working with technical writers is a plus.
