Fairbanks: $3,771.75 - $4,042.50 Biweekly
Juneau: $3,845.25 - $ 4,121.25 Biweekly
Anchorage: $3,662.25 - $3,924.75 Biweekly
What you will be doing:
Technical Engineer 1 / Architect 1:
This role assists the Bridge Section's Bridge Management Engineer in meeting federal requirements for bridge inspection, load ratings, commercial vehicle permits, and asset management. At the Technical Engineer 1 level, the incumbent serves as a statewide authority on bridge analysis, load ratings, inspection, and management practices.
Technical Engineer 1 / Architect 2:
This role collaborates closely with the Bridge Section's Bridge Management Engineer to craft standards, set priorities, and reconcile differing interpretations regarding bridge load rating and inspection protocols. At the Technical Engineer 2 level, the position represents the highest level of proficiency statewide in bridge analysis, load ratings, inspection, and management practices.

Who we are looking for:Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with the core competencies of:
  • Transportation Engineering: Knowledge of the concepts, principles, theories, and methods applicable to planning, designing, and constructing of transportation systems including traffic analysis, signal analysis, highway capacity, pavement design, bridge construction, planning of transportation projects, environmental analysis of transportation facilities, and transportation network analysis.
  • Structural Engineering: Knowledge of the concepts, principles, theories, and methods related to the design and analysis of complex structures using a variety of materials. Structures may include aerospace systems or structures, and other determinate or indeterminate systems.
  • Design: Knowledge of conceptualizing, developing, producing, understanding, and using plans, models, blueprints, and maps, including the use of tools and instruments to produce precision technical drawings, working prototypes, components, or systems.
  • Building and Construction: Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools to construct objects, structures, and buildings.

Minimum Qualifications
Technical Engineer 1 / Architect 1:
Registration as a professional engineer (PE) or professional architect, and two years of professional engineering or architectural experience as an Engineer 1, Architectural Assistant 3 or higher with the State of Alaska, or the equivalent elsewhere.
Special Note:Persons not registered in the State of Alaska must be registered in a state recognized by the State Board of Registration for Architects, Engineers and Land Surveyors eligible for comity in accordance with AS 08.48.191(b). Persons employed under this provision must become registered in Alaska within one year of hire and sign an agreement to this effect as a condition of employment.
Technical Engineer 2 / Architect 2:
Registration as a professional engineer (PE) or professional architect, and three years of professional engineering or architectural experience (Engineer/Architect 1 or higher), of which one year was as a Technical Engineer 1 / Architect 1 or Engineer/Architect 2 with the State of Alaska, or the equivalent elsewhere.
Special Note:Persons not registered in the State of Alaska must be registered in a state recognized by the State Board of Registration for Architects, Engineers and Land Surveyors eligible for comity in accordance with AS 08.48.191(b).
