SUMMARY
Paragon Professional Services, LLC (Paragon), a wholly owned subsidiary of Bering Straits Native Corporation (BSNC) is seeking a Technical Editor to support a wide range of environmental projects. Primary duties will include editing documents to ensure they are grammatically correct, adhere to style and template guidelines, and comply with regulatory standards.
$35.00 - $40.00/hr
ResponsibilitiesESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

- Reviews and edits information from technical team members and other contributors for clarity, coherency, consistency, correctness, completeness, organization, and format in accordance with changing regulations and standards.
- Reviews and edits work products for grammar, spelling, punctuation, capitalization, sentence structure, redundancy, composition, and editorial style.
- Reviews technical work products to ensure that ideas are conveyed clearly by words, pictures, tables, graphs, and graphics/illustrations.
- Ensures content is written appropriately for the targeted audience.
- Applies working knowledge of various style guides, including U.S. Government Printing Office Style Manual, as well as client specifications and instructions regarding documentation and work product standards.
- Provides editorial guidance to authors and technical team members, including creating project- and/or client-specific style sheets and templates.
- Formats work products as needed using Microsoft Word font styles and template files.
- Attends project meetings as necessary and assists with work product milestone schedules.
- Collaborates with other editorial team members to track updates to editorial style guides/sheets, ensure consistency of voice and content, and meet deadlines.
- Collaborates with authors and project teams to meet project- and client-specific guidance in documents and deadlines.
- Assists with proposals and marketing materials.
QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION

Required (Minimum) Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in, English, Communications, Journalism, or other relevant field plus five (5) years of experience in technical writing and editing, preferably in the realm of environmental consulting.
- Experience editing documents and managing their development.
- Experience with common office software, such as Microsoft Word and other Microsoft Office Suite applications.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics
- Ability to collaborate with coworkers, subject matter experts, and management to see that document editing expectations are met and that a collegial and professional atmosphere is maintained throughout the document's lifecycle.
- Skills for supporting multiple projects and multi-tasking.
Preferred
- Familiarity with RCRA, CERCLA, EPA, and DOD regulatory guidance.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work Environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be borne by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Job is performed in an office setting with exposure to computer screens and requires extensive use of a computer, keyboard, mouse and multi-line telephone system. The work described herein is primarily a modern office setting. Occasional travel may be required.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- No supervisory responsibilities.

As a condition of employment, may be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening, as well as have acceptable reference and background check results.
