- Assisting with R & D work for alternative coating materials for linings of cans and as well as alternative steel substrate thickness and temper
- Alternative materials are used to make "test packs" for testing of shelf life of different products or improvements to run-ability of the materials.
- Intern would help with organization and evaluation of test packs. This would include:
- Labeling and logging samples based on current processes.
- Rating and recording performance of the alternative materials with different foods directly alongside Senior Technical Service personnel.
- Assisting in evaluation of quality complaints
- Intern would organize and log incoming complaint samples as well as assist in the evaluation and root cause analysis for each complaint.
- Intern would also help categorize complaint and root cause types and assist in looking for trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Assisting in implementation of BRC Packaging Regulations
- The Baraboo facility is looking to become certified under the British Retail Consortium (BRC) standards for Packaging and Packaging Materials.
- The standards are best practices for food manufacturing with a focus on food safety.
- Intern would assist in implementation and organization of new initiatives within the facility to comply with these standards. Examples would include:
- Organization of required documentation
- Tracking progress of action items
- Assist with risk analyses related to food safety
