Summary
Under the general supervision of the supervisor, drives trucks to transfer supplies, appliances, debris and material to other areas as well as helping to load or unload cargo.
All activities must support the Housing Authority of the City of Pittsburgh (“HACP” or “Authority”) mission, strategic goals and objectives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The position duties and responsibilities listed below describe the general nature and scope of work. Other responsibilities, duties and skills may be required and assigned, as needed.
Drives various vehicles in order to transfer supplies, debris, appliances, material and personnel. Ensures loads are secured and tarped.
Loads and unloads cargo.
Completes a move log and paperwork documenting move from destination to destination.
Performs routine maintenance on assigned vehicle(s). Maintains oil level, other fluid levels and tire pressure.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
Accounts for all hours worked every day.
Education and/or Experience
High School diploma or GED equivalent required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Must possess a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license and be insurable under the Authority’s plan. Must be skilled in driving a standard or automatic transmission vehicle.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of PA driving codes and laws. Skilled in following safety rules and practices pertaining to driving. Must be able to drive pick-up and dump trucks. The employee should have basic computer skills (MS Word, Excel and Outlook). Must have the ability to learn other computer software programs as required by assigned tasks.

To perform this job successfully, the employee is frequently required to travel to various Authority properties to oversee maintenance projects. Daily movements include sitting; standing; reaching and grasping; operating computers and other office equipment; moving about the properties; and attending on-site meetings and off-site meetings. The employee must be able to exchange information in person, in writing, and via telephone.

Position generally works on Authority properties, which may cause the employee to experience a range in temperatures and other weather conditions. The noise level may be loud and the environment may be more hazardous than a standard office environment. This position may be required to work with contractors as well as Authority residents.
Employees must have access to 24 hour reliable internet service. Employees must also have reliable transportation to and from work, as well as, to get to and from multiple HACP locations based on business needs and assignments.
