Hybrid: Position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time, but the general expectation is that the employee be onsite at Concord, NC at minimum three (3) days each week.

The Role

We are to seeking a NASCAR Team Simulation Support Engineer to aid in the operation of our simulation toolchain to drive improved performance on the track. Working with race team members and fellow GM Support Engineers you will perform analysis studies using driver-in-loop (DiL) simulators, assist in DiL and offline simulation tool use and education, facilitate team feedback to GM simulation development entities, aid in development and refinement of vehicle modeling inputs, and help develop baseline simulation settings for on track events. Your attention to detail is critical to deliver projects to the highest standards. You must be proficient in completing engineering related tasks using computer software, possess an aptitude for proactively engaging with others in vehicle performance related activities, and have a passion for using highly accurate and numerically efficient models.

What You’ll Do

  • Play a key role as a performance Support Engineer for NASCAR Cup series racing teams

  • Assist race teams in setup and use of Driver in Loop (DiL) simulators

  • Help teams in fitment of collected data for the purpose of input to simulation modeling

  • Be part of the broader Simulation Support team seeking to continuously improve and investigate methods to utilize the simulation toolchain and increase race team performance

  • Provide race teams expert knowledge in the simulation toolchain functionality and modeling practices

  • Represent racing team needs as a stakeholder in the simulation toolchain development process

Additional Description

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Physics, or a related subject

  • 2 years of Motorsports experience, preferably within a race team setting

  • Knowledge of high-performance vehicle, tire, and aero modeling techniques

  • Highly analytical, customer focused, and structured, with positive relationship and strong communicative skills

  • Must be a great teammate, be able to work a flexible schedule and have a high level of integrity

  • This job may be eligible for relocation benefits

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

  • NASCAR experience

  • Knowledge of using Dymola/Modelica in a simulation toolchain

  • Exposure to modern software development tooling and environments, preferably C# and Git
