Job Description
This internship is an introduction to the full-time Team Leader Production (TLP) job opportunity at Lamb Weston. In this internship, you will:

  • Assist in overseeing loss elimination through the production process based off top loss determined from loss allocation tools
  • Support continuous improvement goals in safety, quality, cost, and customer service
  • Learn from and collaborate with various teams to identify manufacturing/process inefficiencies before developing potential solutions
  • Projects may include but are not limited to developing new operating standards that eliminate/reduce product and resource losses, creating new training material, updating inefficient practices, engaging in worker interviews, and participating in safety initiatives

Duties & Responsibilities include:
  • Direct the processing activity in the plant which includes supervision of the hourly work force in planning, equipment operation and repair, materials usage, scheduling of operations, training, etc. Responsible for the quality, safety, and sanitation in the plant.
  • Work closely with Quality Assurance, Sanitation, Warehouse and Maintenance personnel, as well as other Production Supervisors on shift.
  • Train and supervise subordinates in safety and accident prevention practices.
  • Must be familiar with factors affecting recovery, grade yields, labor costs, labor utilization and material waste.
  • Administer plant and human resource policies to assure satisfactory employee relations.
  • Responsible for proper training of all personnel and assuring that operators recognize discrepancies and adjust and/or repairs prior to any appreciable loss of productivity occurs.

What is a Team Leader Production (TLP)?
Team Leaders are the future leaders of our organization. This full-time employment opportunity is a supervisor role where you will help your production team reach target goals, manage day-to-day operations, and will be responsible for identifying areas of improvement in the manufacturing process. In the internship, the goal will be to introduce you to activities and specific projects Team Leaders may see day-to-day.
Basic & Preferred Qualifications
  • Juniors, Seniors, or Master's degree students preferred but also accepting recent grads
  • This is a full-time position with 8-hour shifts Monday-Friday but a successful candidate may need to occasionally flex to other shifts (example: 2nd shift, night shift) as part of your capstone project
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and ability to meet the Lamb Weston Authorized Driver standards
  • Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, problem solving and organizational skills
  • Ability and willingness to work independently
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Demonstrated supervisory or leadership experience
  • A self-motivated individual that is able to multi-task and lead others

Preferable
  • Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment is a plus
  • Working knowledge of plant equipment and safety is a plus
  • Previous experience in a food-processing is a plus

This compensation is specific to this position and takes into account a number of variables. Actual compensation may be higher or lower in the range posted based on various factors, including, but not limited to, job duties, experience and expertise. A candidate's work location could also impact the actual compensation being outside of the range to reflect local cost of labor. A reasonable hourly estimate for this role based on the variables previously mentioned is: $22.00
