Job description

Overview:Responsible to plan and schedule staff to meet daily targeted goals. Schedules work and assists with employee selection, reviews employee performance, administers work rules, and maintains consistency of processes through standard work instructions. Provides leadership and mentoring to team members, including communicating team goals and supporting company policies. Utilizes problem-solving techniques, team-building strategies, and project management. Promotes Lean Manufacturing with emphasis on continuous improvement; review current processes to eliminate waste, analyze performance, resulting in efficiency gains and cost reduction, while maintaining safety and quality standards. Schedules department workflow and work improvements to maintain quality, cost, safety, and output requirements. Communicates scheduling or inventory constraints, quality concerns and shipment delays along with a recovery plan as applicable.
Responsibilities:

  • Hire, train, coach, and develop team members through the use of Job Instruction Sheets to ensure standard work is followed and department goals are met.
  • Responsible for training team members in accordance with TWI standard work practices
  • Develop Team Members through coaching and mentoring.
  • Responsible for ensuring team members’ accuracy of work.
  • Arrange staffing in cells to meet daily work; communicate vision of daily production targets
  • Ensure team members have the correct tools to complete their daily tasks and assure they are in good working condition
  • Initiate daily work improvements through Training Within Industries methodologies
  • Cultivate an environment of respect and give prompt feedback to team members’ ideas
  • Maintain professional communication and provide constructive feedback to staff
  • Provide notification of company policy violations to Manager/Supervisor
  • Promote and maintain a safe and clean work environment as well as conduct daily, weekly, and quarterly 5S audits and support 5-S initiatives.
  • Responsible for cardboard recycling collection/disposal and steel/wood scrap pickup
  • Oversees and participates in counting, weighing, and measuring incoming or outgoing items to compare identifying information and verify against bills of lading, invoices, orders or other records
  • Monitor performance of Kanban levels and take pro-active actions to solve problems and mitigate risk attributable to these levels and the corresponding assembly cells
  • Conduct accident / incident and complaint investigations and partner with Manager and HR to resolve.
  • Follow the plant’s safety rules and procedures by always wearing PPE and immediately addressing all safety concerns. Promotes an environment where zero injuries are the expected standard
  • Operate a forklift, lift cranes, hand jack, and air powered tools
  • Identify and maintain accurate inventory locations
  • Communicate part shortages, scrap, or delays in part process or distribution
  • Unload, unpack and examine incoming shipment, reject damaged items, record shortages, and correspond with Purchasing, Transportation, and Inventory Depts. to rectify damages and shortages
  • Properly warehouse good to facilitate proper First-In-First-Out (FIFO)
  • Assign loads to freight carriers, determine load sequences, and manage staff to assist in meeting deadlines when loading and unloading shipments. Communicate delays with all parties involved
  • Responsible for loading outbound shipments and preparing appropriate documents
  • Includes both domestic and international shipments
  • Coordinate company truck routes and supplier pickups/deliveries between Bruno facilities
  • Create charts and spreadsheets to establish work schedules and provide department metrics
  • Open/close production facility as needed

Qualifications:Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Additional training in supervisory management courses preferred.
  • Two years’ work experience in a related field and a minimum of 2 years’ formal experience leading and supervising personnel.
  • Qualified applicant must possess experience with maintaining inventory accuracy in addition to training staff and team building.
  • Lean Manufacturing principles a plus.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Read, analyze, and interpret a variety of information, such as work instructions, engineering prints, technical procedures, business correspondence, and governmental regulations furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Create business-level written correspondence and verbally present information to internal and external customers.
  • Requires job-related software skills, MS Office and the ability to operate a variety of standard office equipment.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands:

  • Modern production facility with heat and air conditioning
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is generally required to stand, sit, walk; use hands and fingers, talk and hear
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds routinely
  • Ability to lift 31 pounds to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to lift over 50 pounds with assistance occasionally
