Optical Team Lead for the AR/HV Coating Department - Nigh Shift
Work Hours:
8 Hour Shifts (Schedules and shift assignments may be subject to change based on business needs) Monday- Friday Night =9:30PM to 6:00AM (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary Duties- Floats in the AR/HV department to help at any station to meet business needs based on management direction
- Communicates any operation, quality, or safety issues to management
- Verifies equipment is ready for operation before start of shift
- Maintain hourly production goals
- Handling flammable/corrosive materials daily
- Ensure lenses are clean of dust and debris
- Operate backside coating Machine
- Operate Oven to cure coating
- Operate stripping machine to strip lens coating or coating from racks
- Reject bad coating on lenses
- Help routing work in the AR-Preparation room
- Set up lenses into racks, feed racks into Hard Coat Dipping Machine.
- Inspection, sorting, washing, and prepping lenses for AR coating.
- Machine maintenance, including cleaning and scrubbing of exterior machine parts. Cleaning and scrubbing inside of the machine.
- Maintains workstation clean and organized
- Be able to multi-task, as required by work flow or Lab Manager
- Light record keeping on machine maintenance
- Maintain cleanliness of the lab
- Perform duties as requested by Supervisor and Lab Manager
- Maintain the machine clean inside and out
- Maintain workstation and work areas clean and organized
- Prepping machine parts for maintenance
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- High School Diploma or GED
Experience
- Experience in the Optical Industry as it relates to ophthalmic lenses is desired
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Able and willing to work as a team
- Demonstrated Leadership abilities.
- Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities
- Troubleshooting, repair and maintenance techniques and practices
- Ability to work with Computer/Electrical Controlled equipment
- Must be able to read and understand technical data provided for the role
- Experience working with computer programs
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to troubleshoot
- Good communication skills and a team player
- Knowledge of planning and scheduling techniques
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Ability to read technical documents and manuals and extract information for required repairs of equipment
- Ability to maintain quality and safety standards
- Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
- Respond to emergencies as required; coordinate activities with other responders; identify and coordinate resources to effectively repair and ensure the safety of the facility
- Knowledge of safety equipment and practices related to the work, including the handling of hazardous chemicals and lock-out/tag-out procedures
- Basic Computer skills (Windows, MS Office, Excel)
- Basic Math
- Must be able to work Overtime, Saturdays and Sundays and some holidays when needed
- Good hand to eye coordination
- Able to read and write English Language well
- Able to analyze and record yield data accurately
- Experience or knowledge working with automated equipment
- Problem solving skills
- Work without constant supervision
- Attendance/Punctuality - Is consistently at work and on time
Physical Requirements
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and use hands to manipulate, handle or feel. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to walk. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. During maintenance, employee required to squat, stretch, twist, bend, and be able to work inside the tight areas.
Safety Requirements
- Closed toe shoe required with heel support.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, toxic or caustic chemicals and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- Must wear safety glasses, gloves, face mask and lab coat as required by the task.
