SUMMARY:
The Special Education Integrated Classroom Teacher will evaluate students for special education eligibility, develop and implement curriculum with accommodations, perform activities to support repetitious exposure to curriculum content, implement behavior management plans, and collect academic and behavioral data to monitor growth and development.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSILBILITES:
- Create an optimal learning environment for students, conducive to learning and the accomplishment of various student learning objectives.
- Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests,
- Guide classroom support staff in implementing activities that support children’s goals and other areas of need and in collecting data.
- Provide direct individual and/or group instruction through inclusion and/or resource models
- Support the transition of students within the classroom and building by using positive behavior supports, visuals, and developmentally appropriate interventions.
- Implement treatment protocol and appropriate therapeutic strategies established in children’s treatment plans, IEPs, and individual support plans
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in Special Education or related field
- MASS DESE Certified; Severe Special Education- all levels preferred
- Demonstrated skills in working with students with various ability levels
Qualifications:
- Successful completion of Criminal Records Check (CORI), and fingerprints
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Hudson School Committee’s policy on evaluation or in accordance with union contract.
WORK YEAR:
- 10 months, 183 days
- 2 personal days, 12 sick days, prorated pursuant to date of hire

While performing duties of this job, the employee may often remain in a stationary position for considerable periods of time. The employee will have ample periods of standing and may be required to traverse throughout the building. The employee must frequently use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and use hand strength to grasp tools. Frequently operates a computer and other office productivity machinery (i.e., calculator, copy machine, and computer printer). Physical abilities may also include lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling, stooping/crouching, reaching/handling, talking/hearing conversations, and near/far visual acuity/depth perception/color vision/field. Ability must be able to lift and/or push and pull 15 to 20lbs for short periods, and walk up and down stairs several times a day. The employee must be able to communicate effectively with students, staff members, and the public in person and on the telephone.
