JOBSUMMARY & PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS
REPORTSTO: School Principal
DEPARTMENTNAME: Leadership and Learning
JOB SUMMARY (2-3 sentences): Instructs studentsindividually and in groups using various teaching methods such as lectures,discussions and demonstrations. This position teaches elementary grades.
PRIMARYJOB FUNCTIONS: List, inthe order of time spent, the essential tasks performed by the position. Employees may be assigned additional duties by management as required.
Job Responsibility 1:
Plans daily lessons to meet the needs of all students and assists students needing additional support. Adapts teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests.
Job Responsibility 2:
Establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and homework assignments. Communicates those objectives to students.
Job Responsibility 3:
Establishes and enforces rules of behavior and procedures for maintaining order in their classroom.
Job Responsibility 4:
Confers with parents or guardians, other teachers, counselors, and administrators to resolve students' behavioral and academic problems.
Job Responsibility 5:
Designs and implements assessments that measure progress towards academic standards and identifies gaps in learning. Uses assessment data to refine curriculum and adjust instructional practices.
Job Responsibility 6:
Prepares materials and classrooms for class activities and homework assignments. Creates a positive achievement-oriented learning environment.
Job Responsibility 7:
Participates in collaborative curriculum development and grade-level and/or school activities.
Job Responsibility 8:
Participates in ongoing professional development activities.
GENERALRESPONSIBILITIES, REQUIREMENTS, AND IMPACTS

Usesaddition, subtraction, multiplication, and division; may compute ratios, rates,and percentages.
COMMUNICATIONSREQUIREMENTS: "Communications"involves the ability to read, write, and speak.
Readsjournals and manuals; composes specialized reports and business letters usingproper format and grammar; speaks to groups of coworkers and people outside theorganization.
COMPLEXITY OFWORK: "Complexityof Work" addresses the analysis, initiative, ingenuity, creativity, andconcentration required by the position and the presence of any unusualpressures.
Performswork involving the application of logical principles and thinking to solvepractical problems within or applying to a unit or division of theorganization; requires continuous, close attention for accurate results andfrequent exposure to unusual pressure.
IMPACT OFDECISIONS: "Impact of Decisions" refers toconsequences such as damage to property, loss of data or property, exposure ofthe organization to legal liability, or injury or death to individuals.
Makesdecisions with serious impact - affects most units in organization, and mayaffect citizens.

Requiresconsiderable responsibility for the safety and health of others and/orcontinuous enforcement of the laws and standards of public health and safety.
EDUCATION ANDEXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATIONREQUIREMENTS: "EducationRequirements" refers to job specific training and education required for entryinto the position.
Bachelors'degree in education or related degree.
LICENSES,CERTIFICATIONS, AND REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED: "Licenses,Certifications, and Registrations" refers to professional, state, or federallicenses, certifications, or registrations required to enter the position.
Musthave a current Tennessee Teaching certificate or be in an eligible alternativelicensure program.
EXPERIENCEREQUIREMENTS: "ExperienceRequirements" refers to the amount of work experience that is required forentry into the position that would result in reasonable expectation that theperson can perform the tasks required by the position.
Priorteaching experience preferred.
Morespecific degree, certification, and experience requirements will be included inthe position announcement as vacancies occur.
