About the Employer
The Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) serves some of Orange County's most vulnerable student populations and provides support and mandated fiscal oversight to 28 school districts serving more than 600 schools and approximately 475,000 students. Job Summary
Our Alternative Education Division (ACCESS) provides educational options to diverse student populations referred by local school districts, probation, and social services. We are currently recruiting for a talented professional to serve as an English/Social Studies Teacher for our ACCESS Division to plan and provide instruction to individuals in English, World History, U.S History, Government, and Economics in an A-G program. The current vacancy is located at Pacific Coast High School (PCHS) in Tustin, CA. PCHS operates like a community college for high school students offering AG,NCAA, and high school graduation courses including elective courses both online and on-campus. Examples of other teaching assignments within ACCESS include using seat time or independent study instructional models to provide art education to at-promise students in Community Based Programs (CBP), including charter schools primarily serving students between the ages of 18 and 26; delivery of educational services to incarcerated youth in Institutions who are going through the juvenile justice system; and offering educational support through the Community Home Education Program (CHEP) to families who choose to provide direct instruction to their child in the home or outside the traditional school model.

Licenses, Certificates, and Special Requirements: • Possession and maintenance of a valid California teaching credential authorizing instruction in the subject areas of English and/or Social Studies at all levels of curriculum in a departmentalized setting.
