GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Educare of Omaha, Inc. is a collaborative partnership between the Early Head Start/Head Start, Omaha Public Schools and the Buffett Early Childhood Fund. Comprised of the two Educare Omaha Schools (Kellom and Indian Hill) and the three Omaha Early Learning Centers (Skinner, Gateway, and Kennedy), the mission of Educare of Omaha, Inc. is to promote school readiness by enhancing the social and cognitive development of children ages 0 to 5 through the provision of evidence-based education, health, nutritional, social, family engagement and other services to enrolled children and their families.
Educare’s goal is to Grow Our Own by inviting high school juniors to work as paid interns to support us in getting children prepare for success in kindergarten and throughout their lives. As an intern you will not be left alone with children or counted in ratio. We hope that your experience with us will inspire you to stay interested in the field of early childhood education and stay with us after you successfully graduate high school. All of our interns will be enrolled in a self-pace child development course, at no cost to you, with Metro Community College and will receive a Child Development Associate certification and 19 college credits to jump start your career. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide opportunities for children to develop positive self-images and experience success.
- Assist in the development and the implementation of an individualized educational plan for each child.
- Assist in developing and maintaining an attractive and stimulating learning environment and assist in encouraging a child’s independence and self-selection of activities.
- Ensure that all children are always under appropriate supervision and guidance.
- Maintain a clean, safe and healthy classroom environment.
- Encourage parent participation in program activities and in implementing education activities for their children at home and in the community.
- Communicate with parents (informal conversations, newsletters, personal notes) regarding his/her child’s involvement in classroom activities and progress towards learning goals.

SCHEDULE:
At Educare of Omaha Inc., we recognize the unique needs of students and the importance of balancing academic pursuits with other commitments. We are dedicated to fostering a supportive environment that accommodates student schedules, offering flexible working hours to ensure that our student team members can excel both in their studies and their professional development. Our hours of operations are between 7:00AM-5:30PM. Interns will work with their immediate supervisors for report times and schedules.
DRESS CODE:
Each employee or member of Educare is expected to always present a professional presence both in conduct and appearance while on the job. Staff will wear clothing appropriate to their work environment, classroom, office, or support/maintenance areas. Clothing must be neat, clean, in good repair and staff must practice good personal hygiene.
Directors reserve the right to guide staff in choosing appropriate dress attire for work. Classroom teaching staff, administrative support (front desk receptionist, administrative assistant), and Leadership: will wear business casual clothing daily. If not in business casual, staff must wear Educare of Omaha, Inc. specific apparel (unless otherwise specified). Apparel may be worn with clean and work appropriate pants/bottoms (as specified below). Leggings under dresses /skirts are appropriate, but leggings as pants alone would still not be acceptable.
Jeans are allowed on Fridays and/or days designated as "Jeans Days", “Spirit Days” designated by the School Director. On those designated days, jeans may be worn with any work appropriate top with the Educare Omaha or Educare of Omaha, Inc. logo.
